My friend is looking for a good HT cum Music system. His overall budget is ~3.5 lakhs.
Following is the plan as per my idea as he is a pure novice in this.
- UMC-1 Pre-Pro +
UPA-5 Power Amp : ~1200$ + shipping
- Speakers not yet finalised (Bookshelf preferred) : ~1.5Lakhs including sub
> Any idea about the sound signature of the UMC1 + UPA-5 (laid-back / Forward, it would be good to relate it with the sound signature of the known amps like Marantz/Onkyo/Yamaha/Denon)
> Which is the best suited speakers (F/L, F/R, C, SR/L, SR/R) for this combo? The FR/L and FR/R speakers will be used for Music. Currently planning to use it with UMC-1 and UPA-5 for music also and if required will go for a separate amp later in future. He had auditioned B&W 685 (100w @ 88db) and impressed with the sound. Is there any good speaker combo for both Movies and Music considering the above criteria?
> I have included Quad 11L2/12L2, Dali Ikon2, MS RX1/RX2/GS10 to his list
- SubWoofer within the price bracket of 50-60K, which is the best one in this bracket?
- DAC for music : <20K
- Source : either WD Live / AC Ryan / Xtreamer / HTPC
- Cables : 20K
- Speaker Stand (@Magma, help reqd)
