hi all
i'm new here.
i currently have pioneer LX-70 for already 8 years. if i wasn't need 4K receiver i would stay with the LX70 another 8 years at least.
but now i have PS4 pro and LG OLED 55B6.
so i need a good 4K receivers for it.
my speakers are :
rear - wharfedele diamond 9.1
center - wherefedele diamond 9.cc
front - wherfedele diamond 9.5

and i can't decide what is the best for me :
pioneer vsx-1131
yamahaa rxv-581
denon x2300
i hope you could help me decide.

p.s
is the audysee is that good or just like the yamhaa and pioneer room correction system?
thanks

Hi,

If you have been using LX series for quite sometime, i don't think you will edge towards a VSX series.....

Yamaha RXV581 is on a brighter side.....you can audition and decide with your kind of music and movies.....again all depends on your budget.

You could also look at NAD / Cambridge Audio / Marantz to get a little different experience....Denon also is good but you will need to look at their higher end models...2xxx and beyond......

Audyssey helps in quick setup and fair amount of correction to ensure appropriate sound and performance of the AVR with speakers....again sometimes this can fail and hence manual tweaking become necessary

If the OLED has multiple inputs to hook up Blu Ray players, Set Top Boxes, PS4 pro etc, i would send all signals to the TV directly and use the audio out from the TV to the AVR....again it depends on person to person if they want it this way or rather use the AVR as a media center...choice is yours now.

Hi
I am being using Denon AV receivers since long time.
Recently I switched over to Yamaha RX 3050 but was not happy with the sound stage.
I guess each brand has specific tonal quality which is important to know and you must like that sound quality.
If you are happy to Pioneer you should stick with the brand and go for their higher end model which meets your requirement.
Denon and Marantz are warm sounding where as Yamaha I found bright .
Look at Denon AVR X 3000 H it is great receiver.

why do you need a 4k receiver, simply connect your 4k players directly to the tv. and for audio to the avr connect through optical if the tv doesnt have a hdmi out & passthrough

Optical/ Coaxial outputs and TV HDMI pass through (better known as ARC) do not support HD audio. I have given a workaround for HD audio through a link in my earlier post above.

Why do you need 4K in a AVR? As said earlier, route your video directly to your television.

For the latest audio codecs, buy a Panasonic UHD player UDP 900 or the Oppo UHD player 203. Using their analogue outs, connect to your existing Pioneer AVR and you are golden.
I am sure your Pioneer AVR will have 7.1 inputs.

Upgrade your speakers instead. Try something like the Dynaudio Emit 10/20 and you will have a better controlled sound with better balanced. The Pioneer LX series was decent so don't go with a vsx or the cheaper yamaha. You are actually going backwards. If you do not want to change your speakers then go with a higher end receiver like the Yamaha 1000+, Marantz 7000+, etc.

But OP needs to connect his gaming machine PS4 Pro which has only one HDMI 2.0a output.

BTW all UHD Blu-ray Players released till date have dual HDMI outputs. 1 Main HDMI out and 2. HDMI for "Audio Only" which can be used to connect to older AVRs with HDMI 1.4.

I personally feel Warm sounding receivers are best option for small and medium room/hall size as we can have little more volume turned up.

Hay i have LeEco Super3 X55 tv, i had a doubt on HDMI-ARC out, coz i wanted to skip buying the blue ray player since the TV can read all kind of formats when you connect to USB and i was expecting to get DTS HD/TrueHD audio out from ARC, i could not see any info on the user manual about the digital signal that ACR can, However i called up the Cust care of LeEco TV to check, when i asked the rep about it, i am sure that sounded like he has never heard of these names of digital signals he was not sure about what signals ARC can pass through i asked him to put me on hold and have a check with his superiors and get back he did the same and when he got back he said sir it will pass through all the signals that you had asked for even Dolby Atmos, i was surprised to hear from him, i am just eagerly waiting for my HT setup to be done so i can check this thing.

i wouldn't bother with 4k tech yet.. as all 4k tech now are all passive 4k pass through.. but if you like it then whose to judge you.. if you are used to the pioneer sound and like it since you've been using the lx-70 for 8 years already.. the new pioneer sc-lx901 should be enticing to you.. but i'd reccomend you to get a used pioneer sc-lx90 and you'll definitely be blown away with the sound.. but if 4k is your thing the check the new lx-901 a look..
