HOTSTAR Movies vs Amazon Prime - Audio Quality

I meant Apple TV+ streaming service compared to Netflix service
Not the PQ from Apple TV hardware :)
I get that, Thanks!
My question is also regarding the Hotstar update with Disney+, have not seen it yet on my Apple TV and eagerly waiting to try it out

Hi Guys, Are the movies in Hotstar has 5.1 audio? I recently got a Denon 1600h; when ever i play hotstar cotent , it shows stereo....

Amazon prime it shows surround one......So wondering , if it has anything to do with my TV or not......I am using optical audio out/ARC from TV to AVR.....

Denon supports Audio upmixing. Press Movie/Music button in the last row of remote, you will get various options.
For movies I prefer DTS Neural which gives life to surround speakers for stereo audio.

You are right
Disney+ shows are there on the phone app but not on the ATV app.
I guess hotstar has its priorities clear

So true..
I was talking purely from a PQ and SQ perspective though

Thats why the ‘Yes, but...’.

I find the best content and quality combination in the lesser known MUBI app (my favourite platform) though. Targeting connoisseurs with auteur cinema, it has also kept its PQ and SQ pretty good (1080p Full HD, and visibly far better than Prime and Hotstar). Don’t think it has 5:1 et al, but the movies on it don’t even need it. I enjoy listening to these movies through my 2.0 stereo system.

Here’s an update on reduced resolution by popular platforms some might have missed. Don’t know if they’ve done it in India too.

the Disney + movies in Hotstar are now multi channel Audio afaik. So is ”mandalorian”, which I binge watched.. However, PQ, for me at least is very poor, I would hazard to say that is not even full HD. Maybe they are throttling it for now .

My experience on the PQ is similar To others, Apple TV+ programming has by far the best PQ.

You mean 5.1? Not getting it in Firestick or Firestick 4K.
Yes me too, not getting any content in 5.1 channel of Disney Plus Hotstar on my Nvidia shield tv pro. Their Twitter handle said only Apple TV and fireTV stick getting Mandalorian in 5.1. Other devices will be getting shortly.

"Hi! You can enjoy The Mandalorian with 5.1 sound on our latest apps on Fire TV and Apple TV. We will be bringing 5.1 sound to more content soon. Appreciate your support."

I have not seen any other content in Hotstar + Disney in 5.1 audio except Star Wars -mandalorian which is DD+. I have fire TV 4K. Picture quality was full HD and quite good. It has great collection of movies but all in 2 channel.

Recently i had sent a mail. Hotstar said, currently there is no 5.1 support - Mail reply below

Greetings from Hotstar!

Currently, our platform does not support the '5.1 surround sound' audio system. We are already working on providing our users with the 'Dolby' experience.

However, we have shared your feedback with the relevant team. As this may take a while to be implemented, your patience would be appreciated.

We appreciate your patience and understanding
.
Thanks,
Manu Pillai
Hotstar Team.

Watching cars2 on hotstar on fire stick getting multi channel audio. Though the quality seems garbage.
