How to connect AVR to PC

If you are taking out S/PDIF output directly from your MOBO you can build a coaxial out yourself. Its damn simple.
If I am correct in assuming, there are vertical pins in your MOBO from where you are taking S/PDIF out. Then do the following:
Get a audio cable as shown below from a computer shop.

Cut the cable so that you get one end free and one end with the pin connector.

Get a RCA connector part as shown below from a electronics parts shop.

Solder the free end of the audio cable to the RCA connector and you have a DIY bracket. (make sure you solder the right wire to the body and center of the RCA connector, read it from the MOBO manual or determine it with a multimeter).

Yes I already tried it yesterday With no success still getting two channels.

I did it that way took a wire as shown in your 2nd image connect one side to MOBO's SPDIF out and cut the other side and solder it direct to one of connector of my coaxial cable and put other connector of coaxial cable into AVR's digital coaxial in as receiver detect the signal as digital but only two channels present in direct mode.

My mobo is ASUS P5KPL-CM and I'm using windows 7 now.

And here are screen shots of mobo's spdif settings

In your earlier post you said you didn't have coaxial cable and whatnot

Anyways..
Your windows audio settings seems ok.
What player are you using? Is it downmixing to 2 channels? Did you check the player settings thoroughly?

There you are you caught me red handed actually I used LFE coaxial cable only for testing purpose I thought if it works I can buy a fresh one for the purpose.

I'm using VLC and checked all related settings with same settings it was giving me perfect 5.1 channel in Logitech Z5500 + X-FI xtreme gamer although analog off course. I even update my K-lite mega codec pack and done the required tweaks in ffdshow audio decoder.

Here is the screen shot n please guide me if I have to make some further settings.

I have used simple RCA cable to connect DVDp to AVR & I cld see AVR displaying DD/Dts.
So dedicated cable can give you better sound, but for testing, any RCA cable should do the job.

LFE cable should be good enough for now.

For further testing...
Download some DTS 44.1kHz files from here or here or here
Then use Foobar with Kernel Streaming plugin. Info here
Do a "Minimum" install.
Select "KS : <your audio device>" under File --> Preferences --> Playback --> Output --> Device.
Turn up the volume in Foobar to maximum (0.00 dB).
Turn down the volume of the AVR. Play those files. Slowly increase the volume in AVR.
What do you hear? White noise or the music?
What do you see in AVR? DTS, or Stereo?

I'm using VLC and checked all related settings with same settings it was giving me perfect 5.1 channel in Logitech Z5500 + X-FI xtreme gamer although analog off course. I even update my K-lite mega codec pack and done the required tweaks in ffdshow audio decoder.

In your VLC setting, in audio devices, select A/52 over SPDIF and NOT 5.1. Selecting 5.1 will make VLC process the AC3/DTS and pass ALREADY PROCESSED analog output only and your mobo/soundcard will supply analog as it gets with VLC through analog connections(each channel separate) or digital connection (2 channels stereo PCM). With A/52 over SPDIF, your AVR will get digital signal (as encoded in the container file, so if the file contains AC3/DTS, it will be multichannel). Try this and let us know.

hrd.hrishikesh is right.

It should be A/52 over SPDIF and NOT 5.1. (Missed that part).
5.1 and others except A/52 over SPDIF is for analog output.

I'm using 5.1 channel in VLC instead of A/52 over SPDIF cause whenever I Select A/52 over SPDIF audio gets missing.

e.g if an original audio is like (Hello how are you) then I'll get it like that in this setting

(he he he he ow ow ow ow r r r r u u u u ) means repeated signal in some part and missing other part of the signal what is gone during when repeating occurs.

And that problem remains always with me ever since I bought this X-FI xtremegamer I had tested it ages ago with my Z5500 digital input at that time I thought problem could be in Z5500's decoder as card was working well in analog form giving me very good sound quality in gaming and all others audio formats so I given decoding to sound card and they were gelled well for 5.1 channel audio although analog but I'm not willing to take 5.1 analog anymore and giving onkyo 807's decoder a rest. Yes it is more likely the culprit party should be soundcard here but I think it is out of warranty now that's why I'm looking in for a HDMI GPU solution now.

For this problem, which version of VLC are you using, is it 1.0? Try A/52 SPDIF with 0.8 version of VLC and check again. Newer versions of VLC are reported to have this stuttering problem.

Voila got the genuine bit stream for AVR out of my PC ( I hope as know I can't control voice levels, effects from PC and my AVR showing all 5.1 channel in direct mode and sound signature is all different are few of evidences) thanks to all of you guys actually I haven't used any other video player apart from VLC for 5.1 channel audio and never ever thought that the problem could be with it.
know as suggested I used KM player and all the things are working beautifully (will dig deep in next computing sessions for other doubts) and I'll try rest of the suggestions in upcoming days and will share my experiences with all of you.

Thanks ones again to all of you.

OK I worked bit more with my setup in Windows 7 and found I can bit stream ac3,DTS audio files out of my MKV files using KMplayer but I still can't bit stream MP3 files neither out of video files using KMplayer nor just only MP3 files of music using foobar 2000 along with its kenal steaming plug in though now it is capable of bit streaming dts audio files after using that plug in.

MP3 files are displaying on my AVR's like format as PCM, audio input indicator as digital.

Thats correct as stereo files are mostly shown as PCM with digital in.

Is that means there is no way to bit stream stereo files like MP3,flac etc....
I wanna bit stream these files to my AVR to use its potential.

So someone please guide me if there is a way to bit stream those files as well.

I have seen option in foobar with KS,wapasi which can output digitally.
This shld be pure bitstream.I have not tried yet.
