Posting a doubt here regarding some speakers on sale here

Owner says that the speaker measures ~23 ohm, and need a special transformer for hooking up to an amp

User manual says these are 8 ohm speakrs, transformer is needed only if they need to be hooked up to a 70/100V PA system.

another ebay link of a 409-16T with multimeter readings show somewhat plausible 6.4 ohm reading
Pair of Altec 8" Coaxial/Duplex Speakers Model 409-16T for Parts/Repair | eBay

Pinged the owner, who says this is because altec made difference impedance versions - which does not make sense to me / his multimeter is not so sensitive in the lower ranges

Can someone sort out this confusion?

Best way to confirm is to measure the speaker impedance using freeware like REW instead of speculating. Multimeter can only measure the DC voice coil resistance.
