Suppose i want to import 1 piece worth 1800USD from USA. Can anyone explain what will be total charges .
Assume you pay shipping of $200, CIF becomes $2000. On that 16.5% duty so $2330. On that 18% GST so $2750 or 2.36 lakhsSuppose i want to import 1 piece worth 1800USD from USA. Can anyone explain what will be total charges .
Very costlyAssume you pay shipping of $200, CIF becomes $2000. On that 16.5% duty so $2330. On that 18% GST so $2750 or 2.36 lakhs
i guess subwoofers now have switchable voltage. I dont care about warrantyForget the cost.
You will have to deal with:
Even if you were to get past the voltage issue, the lack of warranty is enough for me to forget about it, knowing that sub plate amps can pop without any tell tale signs. An SVS isn't immune to it either.
- No Warranty
- 110 volt
Now the manufacturer can say "we will give you warranty" provided you can ship the product at your cost. To me, thats as good as no Warranty.
Can you tell how will custom clearace proces goes? Do they call us or whatImport duty is approximately 43.96% of item cost with an IEC code. This was last I imported, this may have changed.
If you are asking about costs, and if the subwoofer has a built in amp, then you should care about warranty assuming you want to pay as little as possible.

I called one agent first time he said i need BIS certificate lol it will cost me 3lakhs and i cut the phoneThis depends which carrier brings the item to India. Some carriers will clear the item for you, all you need to do with them is pay. Others will not and will require you to arrange for a clearing agent.

i am thinking of monolith thx 13inches 2000rmsIf that is what I think it is, then I don't think you need it for hiring a clearing agent. You may need it for an amp, possibly the amp in the sub. You may need this even if it is cleared by someone else. I will note I have not imported an amplifier or speaker/subwoofer with an amp myself. Hence I have never required a BIS certificate for importing audio equipment.

for personal use why do i need bis, i am not being distributor
I don’t know if BIS is needed, but BIS has nothing to do with being a distributor. BIS stands for Bureau of Indian Standards and is applicable on thousands of imported products. The goal of BIS is to ensure all imported products coming into India meet a certain quality standard, to prevent “dumping” of sub standard products by cheap manufacturers say from China. One big thing this tackled I remember reading was children’s toys.i am thinking of monolith thx 13inches 2000rms

So yes basically if a product comes under the purview of BIS, if it is being officially imported by anyone, it needs to have been BIS certified otherwise customs can seize it and levy a fine on the importerI don’t know if BIS is needed, but BIS has nothing to do with being a distributor. You’ll have to check if BIS is needed. And BIS also requires one sample to test plus a few months of testing timeWhy do i pay 3lakhs for bis i am importing 1 peice for personal use
Some of the electronic goods require BIS certification for ensuring quality standards if imported to India. The thing, the BIS certificate will be issued by the Authorities to Foreign Manufacturer or their representatives/indian subsidairies. It will be issued for a product range and not for individual piece or transaction and might have validity period, after which that can be renewed further Once the BIS is issued to a particular make and model, that product can imported to India by anybody untill its validity allows. The Manufacturer or thier Indian Agents have to apply and acquire the BIS and not by the End user like you.Why do i pay 3lakhs for bis i am importing 1 peice for personal use
oh, but u must. Recently, the plate amp on my Rythmik E15-HP2 gave up the ghost. From discussions online, it seems there was a problem with the capacitors of the batch made in and around 2022. Rythmik comes with a 3 year warranty and the sub gave up around 30 months into its lifecycle. I shudder to think if there was no warranty!i guess subwoofers now have switchable voltage.
