I recently came across a very interesting kickstarter initiative - Inline Maraschino. This is a high quality Class D amp that will output 140W/8ohms, 250W/4ohms. They have other models that have higher power delivery as well. If you get the kickstarter price, you're basically getting it for half the price, which is a good deal.

The amp itself is quite intriguing especially since the Class D world is evolving at such a furious pace. In all likelihood, this will be a serious contender with the likes of Hypex ncore. Maraschino already makes Cherry amps (here's the 6moons review). Again, priced in the ~$4k bracket, but the power delivery and technical specs are really something - 400 watts into 8 ohms and 650 watts into 4 ohms, and .008% thd even at half power (200 watts) is quite impressive. Should be a very attractive option if you have tough to drive speakers, and/or if you want to stop thinking about the amp entirely (i.e. it has enough headroom to drive most speakers you can throw at it).

What is fascinating about this amp is the form factor - it is literally a very small box that could fit in the palm of your hands. The reason why they call it an "inline" amp is because the amp is so small and lightweight (despite its power delivery) that you could hang it on the back of your speaker! In a way, you can convert your passive speakers into powered speakers by attaching this small box to the back of your speaker or just let it hang from your speaker wires!

Considering their eventual $1.7k selling price, the kickstarter price of $700 and $1k is a hefty discount for people who want to commit to this early on (shipping date is late this year). Less than 2 days left though!
