Hi,

There is a listing in amazon.in

Amazon.in: Buy INTEL NUC - NEXT GENERATION MINI PC - FULLY LOADED (BLACK-SILVER) Online at Low Prices in India | Intel Reviews & Ratings

INTEL NUC - NEXT GENERATION MINI PC - FULLY LOADED (BLACK-SILVER) and the price listed is Rs. 9,400/-. The mini PC comes preinstalled with 500GB HD and 4 GB RAM.

Guys what do u think. Is it a good deal?

It does look like a very good deal with fully packed including 4GB RAM and a 500 sata HDD. You just need to install the OS and a media player software like XBMC and you are good go. There is no listing for the HD audio support so you need to check a detailed review if you want HD audio support and then take a decision.

I think it is a very good deal. I might pull the trigger on this one.
Only wish is that it had a SSD (even 64GB at this price would do fine).

If you have OpenElec installed on it, I think it supports HD pass-through
but not when you have Win7 or Win8 installed.

For more details, please look at this thread:

Guys,

Can some one confirm if this has USB3 ports?. Also if I want to remove the 500GB HD and add a SSD, will it be
possible?.

Thanks.

EDIT:
I got the following link for the specs:
http://www.intel.in/content/www/in/en/nuc/nuc-board-dn2820fykh.html
and it says it has 1 USB3 port in the front and the SSD should be installable.

Is there any reason I should not be going for this configuration?.

ebay lists the same config for about 16k
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Intel-NUC-DN...6?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f3f359896

Am I missing something?.

I think yes you can remove the 500GB laptop HDD and install any size SSD. Most of these compact all-in-ones comes with 2.5" HDD which is normally used with laptops. The SSD also is a 2.5" HDD so it will fit without any issues.

Thank you gangasjith. I too placed an order. Hope there are no surprises
as the Intel NUC kit (without the HD and RAM) by itself is listed at 9.3k.
I will have to search for a compatible SSD now.

Hi,

I too hope there are no surprises.
However, may be after placing 2 orders, now the price at Amazon has been revised to Rs. 15,790/-. This is just for your info.

Also would you please explain the difference between HDD and SSD and why your are looking for SSD. Sorry to say that I am not that techno savvy.

In all probabilities, our order might be cancelled because the pricing
was too good to be true. Lets have our fingers crossed.

Using a SSD will speed up boot times and any operation that requires
read/write access to the disk. For example, when the OS loads, it can
load much faster if everything that it requires for the load operation
to complete is accessible at a much faster rate and SSD fares much
better in this aspect when compared to the regular HD.

BTW the current seller is OnlineKing but the seller who had listed at
9.4 k was OKAY Enterprises.

Its listed as 9.4k by the "Okay Enterprises" seller and 15.4k by the other seller. So check out the same before booking :)

Order shipped. Let's see if we get it fully loaded or without hard disk and ram.

Edit: one more unit available from the same seller at 9.4k.

Yup, mine too got shipped. I thought the order might
be cancelled. I hope it comes with 4 GB RAM and 500GB HD.

The plan is to remove the 500GB HD, sell it off and replace it with a
120GB SSD. Make it dual boot with OpenElec, Win7 or Win8.

Excited :). Thanks to the gangasjith again.

Congrats guys.

Whosoever gets it first (including me), please post here immediately that it is actually with RAM and hard disk so that other two members can accept or reject delivery accordingly. [emoji4]

There is no extra PCI slot for additional card.

I think in the review/FAQ comments it does say that the PCI can be achieved with the USB extender card or something similar to that, hence I think it could be possible to get the PCI slot added albeit external but not sure.

Its preoccupied with wifi/Bluetooth adapter I think.

It has reached Hyderabad early this morning, but apparently sitting there
in their warehouse without any further movement. Looks like they will deliver
only on the initial planned date of 16/4 :(

Can someone suggest a compatible SSD for this?. For instance, I read in
legitreviews that the motherboard supports only Sata II interface, hence
even if I buy Sata III SSD, it would restrict to Sata II speeds.

On the other hand, I was looking at Kingston V300 120 GB SSD which is available
for 4k, but some of the reviews suggest the actual read/write speeds are
not great and not as advertised.
