Is Denon DNP-720AE better than ps3?

I'm currently using ps3 to stream music from my pc to receiver, it does a good job doing that, however I need to keep my TV on to browse, play music, also navigating with ps3 remote is not very convenient. I started to google to find alternates to stream music, my requirements for media streamer were, it needs to have a clear display on the unit to browse music collection, should have wifi and finally good sound quality.

My budget is max 30k, is Denon DNP-720AE a good choice, will there be improvement to sound quality compared to ps3, is there any other streamers that you guys can recommend? Pls share your thoughts.

There is one 720 on sale with one of the fm. Cambridge audio NP 30 also a very good alternative to look at that budget.

I have been on the search for a Media Server for about 6 months..but I dont have the money that these things demand...Anyway....few that you could review are, in no particular order of preference -

Cambridge Audio NP 30
Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6
Marantz NA7004
Denon DNP-720AE
Pioneer N50
Pioneer N30
Products from Sonos
Products from Olive, Check the Olive One project

Most of these models also double up as an external DAC.
I could find dealers for all except Pioneer.

The Denon was available at 20k at a recent 2 day sale at ProFX, Bangalore; but I wasnt sure of how good it was.
If you have a smart phone, then you may not need to depend on the unit's display and remote for navigation.

Denon for 20K should be a steal, i recently enquired ProFX Chennai, they were coating price of around 30K, wish there will be a sale in Chennai if you could fork me to some dealers around Chennai for Cambridge that will be great.

I am wondering if there is any difference in sound quality when compared these servers with PS3, currently im streaming music from my pc through plex, it sounds great to my ears but im thinking these servers should give me best sounds compared with ps3.

Look up the dealers, Cambridge Audio have listed on their site. You should be able to come across at least 2 for Chennai. You can also order online from technoguru.

The PS3 and a music server have 2 very different purposes. There is no comparison really. Its like comparing Apples with Oranges.

Olive one looks impressive but looks like there will be a wait time, I find Sonos connect meeting my need and budget however im little worried about after sales support but thanks for sharing these two wonderful products.
