Is it OK to use a "Step Down Transformer" with AV Receiver

This is from 10+ years ago. Spoke with Denon's USA tech support about using a 220v Denon component in 110v US and he said using a step-up transformer was not an issue and the frequency difference not important.
My suggestion is to contact Denon USA--you are likely to get a prompt and correct reply.

FWIW I've been using a Yamaha HTR-6160 (aka RX-V663) with a Maxine 1.5KVA torroidal step-down transformer for about 5 years now and it's been working just fine.

Another point to add is that I've got my mains voltage centrally regulated with a 3KVA servo stab. (Krykard)

In summary I think using a step-down transformer for driving a 110v receiver is fine, as long as your step down is sufficiently rated (thumb role is use approx twice of your receiver's rate wattage) - in my case i've used x 3 times as I had a RX-V1900 earlier that i used to drive with this same step down trans.
