Nikhil, good idea. But we have many audio nonsense threads. Perhaps this could be tacked on/ Or made into a biggest audio nonsenses thread.
omg. I know that the myth exists on the internet, I didn't know that anyone had done anything about it.
Bhagwan, you probably contribute more than most of us to the audio industry economy than many of the rest of us put together. I understand the urge to experiment, even to try the unlikely just in case, but you, and others, could contribute to the cause of honesty, decency and sanity by not buying such items.
Even a junior in any tech or IT dept could tell you that there is no way that a network cable can change the sound. Our engineers can explain why better than I can (a jack-of-all-trades systems manager, and not a hardware expert, let alone much of a theorist) but it is so obvious that it barely takes any need to justify. The onus of justification (scientific explanation, and not pseudo science either) should be on the sellers. But it is impossible. Of course, I haven't looked, but I I cannot imagine that they have any relevant proper measurements to offer.
So, even the techie kids know that this cannot and will not work --- but some pernicious marketing man can introduce doubt into the minds of rational adults that maybe. And that maybe is enough to make them spend their money.
I continue to use the word criminal.

This 'branch' off [OT] was done by me - with Sidvee's permission to comment on 2 Computer with J Play Mini version - '[02.04.2013] JPLAY v5.1 adds new ULTRAStream playback Engine for Windows 8.'
This made a huge change to the sound in my set up for the better - it was too much of a change not to talk about / report - hence I wrote about it - just to share with all - so that all can try it - trust me - really woth the money spent;;;
I am truly sorry - if I have hurt any persons 'sensibilities'
I have no intent of offending anyone or any person.
Have a Super Weekend - one that is filled with music;;;
God Bless;
:clapping:
In this instance, I know, as do many othersWho knows if he's onto something we might chance on to the next big discussion in network audio!

Bhagwan, I have to say that you are a rare type - your ruthless approach to your audio journey needs no explanation or apologies. I still can't get over the fact that you had the balls to try and better a dCS stack and (going by your feedback) have actually achieved it.
Thad, we can all understand your position but there was a time when digital was considered "perfect" and jitter was not known. Its guys like Bhagwan who push the theories by testing and actual observation. Its expensive but if he has the cajones to try something based on a hunch we all benefit. Who knows if he's onto something we might chance on to the next big discussion in network audio!
My suggestion to split the thread is so that we can expand on this discussion without treading on Sid's original post.
has anyone thought enough about the air between speakers and ears? If silver wire for sata can do a huge upgrade, I am sure that filtering air, or removing it altogether is going to be the hugestest change ever in audio history. Imagine, no air - means very high noise floor, no port noises, no fan noises - just bliss.
OT - The Stahl Tek - Opus is the 2nd best digital front end I have ever heard & the Ypsilon [Greece] Transport & DAC is the most musical digital front end I ever heard.
Hi,
If you had to choose between the Stahl Tek-Opus and the Ypsilon which would you prefer to have in your system?

Rajiv

Sir,
Let me start by stating that I am 'impressed' - with a few things;
a] You do 'read' what people write on this forum - super.
b] You should be a 'judge' on a Q & A - Beauty Pageant - just kiddin;;
c] I was under the impression that I was putting in this effort & the intent of what I wanted to get across was getting lost; Thank You - I would be most glad to address your question.
The ST-Opus is a brilliant product - as a 'set' !
No 2 ways about it.
It does an excellent job of data extraction from a CD & represents it in 100 % Audiophile manner. It was designed with only 1 intent - to play in a high end audiophile set up & that is all....
The Ypsilon is a combination that was designed for a 100 % music lover - no audiophilic intentions - what so ever;
If you listen to Chamber Music - Solo Piano - Small ensembles & you want to get 1 with the performance - this is the CD Player for you. Very Musical.
This is the only CD Player in the world I would say is 'analogue sounding' & mind you - I am not a lover of Analogue by a mile & 3/4th - except the Cobra + Continuum etc. [I could write an essay on that topic - separate issue]
So there you have a 'break down' of the 2 CD Players.
However, I still have not answered your question - what would I choose;
Before I tell you what I would choose - let me tell you why I would not be in a position to use / choose any of these;
a]
I have stopped using a CD Player - 4 years back
b]
I have my CD's [not sold a single] but I do not know where they are [i.e. how they are filled] & I would never be in a position to find a song & play it as and when I wanted to - computer & ipad has 'spoilt' me
c]
None of the 2 DAC's can work without its partner - I have tried. They have to go together; It is a long explanation & I can get into it - but will bore you & others - call me & we will talk on it - if you are keen to know. I am serious...
d]
The Player of my Choice / Lust as of now is a Swiss Machine that is made by Request & it is called The Beast - this is the best & the most sophisticated computer based - transport / server / interface that I have ever heard;
Request is a video server maker from USA but the Swiss Distributor has developed this machine / box & boy is it brilliant - 35K Euro is list - so that is a huge [mammoth] road block.
But, if I had to have a wish in audio granted - this would it;
Thanks again for reading all these meanderings....
Hi,
I wonder if you did really ' read' my question.
Why am I reminded of Paul Klipsch and his famous yellow button?

Perhaps I will try it, perhaps not, but I will keep an open mind, and make an attempt to atleast try and audition it, before making any judgements.
Cheers,
