Hi frens,

I'm installing my Projector to DVD Player. I have 2 options....

A. Keep DVD Player at center console below the center speaker.

Hdmi Cable length required to Projector = 15 meters ( 50 feet )

B. Keep DVD player on the left side of Viewing seat.

Hdmi Cable length required to Projector = 5 meters. ( 16 feet )

1. Which length should i go for ?

2. Does the length matter as far as signal/picture quality is concerned ?

3. If i go for longer cable is it better to go for 24 AWG or 28 AWG ?

Thanks

50 ft is a lot of distance. Hence you will need go with a low AWG rated cable. Lower the AWG lesser is the signal drop/distorsion as distance increases. 24 AWG is good for upto 20m. But don't stretch your luck :) I would suggest that you atleast try finding a lower AWG rated cable so that your future upgrade needs are also taken care off.

Thanks

Maybe my fundas have gone gol

But isnt AWG relevant for analog signals esp. to speakers and not for digital cables like HDMI?

I'm using a 10m HDMI cable bought from monoprice.com. Has been working fantastic.

Placing the equipment on the side of viewer works great too.. I have all my equipments that way. It works out to be quite easy to change CD's etc. also, you are not disturbed by the glowing LED's while watching a movie.

Go with a 24AWG Cable and you should not have any problem. Here you have to consider the prices which will be towards higher side as you increase the length of the cable. If you want the cable then I have the option of offerring you SUPRA Cables in both lenghts that you are looking to buy.

Is it true/real "Ashishkesarwani" is banned or any malfunctioning in status of status/signature???::sad:

Is The Room Length Large

Well 50 feet of hdmi cable between a projector and DVD player is not called for, 25 feet cable is way more then enough, unless your room length is very large.

In order to be with the correct wave, DVD player is generally somewhere very near the center speaker and certainly not near the seating area.

The bigger length of cables should be avoided as mush as possible.

I am using 10 meter length HDMI cable for my projector and not having any problems at all.
Make sure that it supports 1080P resolution.

Front Wall Or At The Rear

I think to have the start up audio & video gear near your seating should be considered only if there is no choice to have them placed near the best location, which is indeed the front wall.

While many of the gears have the option to reduce or shut the LED's.

I think 24awg would suffice from what I have read, I use one over 35ft.

However I would suggest to measure the distance accurately and then buy the cable, i.e. dont buy too much excessive length. The cable will be thick and it is difficult to roll up the excessive lengths at the ends.
