While looking at desire to experience ever increasing screen size, the realisation took some time to dawn that it is going to be a difficult proposition to keep upgrading every year. I was already in a full-HD 55" space of video experience. I had not given much thought to a projector, possibly being turned off by the poor experience in meeting rooms of work places.
Chance encounter with a HD projector changed all that. Some search and few visits to showrooms gave me some perspective on the latest tech and features available. Picture quality and connectivity were my prime area of focus. Was not too fussed by 3D and the rest.
During this search, I noticed random mention of LED projectors in the various threads. To my surprise, not many companies were doing Full HD projectors in LED. LG appeared to be one company which had been churning out one model after another, pushing the boundaries with every new launch.
When i decided on PF80G, I had some apprehensions in owning a LG product but I knew that I had the right balance of cost and quality and a peace of knowledge of long lamp life. Boy am I impressed!? I must admit that it takes a while to get adjusted from a full-HD LED TV experience to a projector experience. The picture controls are like that of a TV. But the colours are so much natural and easy on eye. Even the 720 images are clean. And if one uses a full HD source then it is simply superb. Excellent in connectivity and set up. I simply opened the box and connected. Setup is intuitive too. I usually love reading through the manual before spending hours achieving the right setup for receivers and speakers, but in this instance I broke my own rule. It was so simple to setup. For a $1350 equipment, I am already convinced that it is money well spent.
Feature missed are is absence of zoom feature. I must admit that I did not get to sample too many LED full HD projectors, but I know I am not off the mark with this choice.
