MA New RX series ~

Before thevortex and i went to Rajiv's place, i had gone across to Audio People to listen to RS6 and GS10. They were paired with expensive equipment (Pathos in one case and Music Fidelity A1 in the other case).

My conclusion at the end of both sessions (audio people and rajiv) is that, for the price of RS6 alone, one could buy the Lyrita + Epos (more or less) and get better quality. It could work in a smallish room.

One of them said that it will be on sale by September. The other said it will be on Demo in September and will be on sale by December.

I had an ok exprience with the session. I spent an hour and the people were patient enough with me and my dad. We certainly didnt look like impulsive buyers with a large pocket, but never felt any coldness from them. Just sharing my impressions of them for what it is worth.

That's funny
EPOS makes some good speakers, but I am not sure what you are comparing.
M22i would compete well with RS6 (though a different sound), but not at the price you indicate. If you are referring to M5i, it would be unfair for the tiny little wonders to be pitched against RS6 or M22. M5i have to be played at really low volume for them to sound good. They have a great upper mid-range, but they are just little more that a satellite. i don't think anyone could ever substitute any floor standing tower speakers with these speakers.

It would be great if you could share more details on your observations.

Thanks,
Sharad

He is comparing the M12.2 speakers with the RS6, Sharad.

Oh, they are civil indeed, Ramanujam. Just that I have been spoilt by so many warm Chennai dealers that the experience at Audio People is off putting. It is all in comparison, of course and entirely subjective.

My observations have some linkage to the music that i listened to that day, covered in the Lyrita review of thevortex.

For that kind of music, i felt the Lyrita amp with EPOS was more involving as compared to the RS6 + other amp combinations.

It would be nice to check how involving is RS6 with Lyrita, but I guess it's too difficult for demo unless a member here has a setup.

finally did anybody get to listen to the Rx series ?????????

No one in India can listen to RX series until end of September, but the sole distributor for MA here in Chennai has a pair of RX6 for demo, but won't let demo until launch in UK :(

Anyway, am leaving for London on Sept-8 and will be there till month end, heard some dealers there stock and giving demo, would head straight to them when there.

In the meantime, watchout for new RX6 review by WHFSV around Sept-18.

Thanks Vinod for that.

Heard they got technology from the Gold series incorporated in the new Rx line so was wondering how it sounded.

Will wait for your audition and views of the Rx series do it before the WFV ppl does it your review just might end up first in google search.:D

YMW.

The RX6 has the technology trickled down from the gold series like dimpled cones, and other technical aspects. Some dealers in UK who've heard RX6 say they sound far better that GS20 at half the price, now that'll make the RX6 sell like hot cakes.

:)

Looks like I have become one of the earliest owners of the new RS6. It so happened that the old RS6 pair I had purchased wasnt available in walnut colour so I had taken delivery of a cherry colour pair about a month and half back - with the dealer (boomarang) promising to deliver the walnut colour pair within 2 weeks and replace the cherries..this kept on getting delayed week after week (just my guess -maybe becoz the distributors Audip ppl themselves may have run out of walnut colour old series pieces with the imminent launch of the new RS series).

Finally last week I got the delivery of a pair of walnut colour RS6 - and lo and behold its the news series...small changes in design - the drivers look a bit different, more metal, the binding posts closer to ground, the black fabric cover stuck magnetically to front and.... the sound!!!

I am not an audiphile by a mile...but even to my untrained ears these beauties sound far more authoraritative in bass dept (in fact it comes with a pair of sponge plugs to put into the lowest driver - dont know what its called- in case the bass gets too much). Mid range and highs too sound better - clearer without being harsh. Even when the volume is turned up high, the highs dont grate (which I felt was an issue with the old ones)

I have heard AR Rehman , Dire Strats, Eagles, Jagjit Singh, Kailash Kher (for the highs), Dev D (bass)...also movies (Bourne Series, casino royale)...and its mind blowing...these speakers have a presence which commands respect.
And they look very very sleek.

Hi Shyamal,

Could you write a small review of these speakers audio signature with your equipment? That would benefit many on this forum.

What price are the wallnut MA RX 6?

Kindest regards

Good for u, congratulations.
These foam bungs are to be inserted into the ports (it s a vented box) to reduce bass. Remove them and store safely and use only if u feel a bass over hang.
Run the speakers for a few hours and u should be even happier!!!!!
I have not heard the new series and am happy that they are an improvement.
Rgds

Congrats on your new RX6!

It seems to be a good improvement from the old RS6 from your initial impression. It's unbelievable that you got the new model so soon.

:)

Hello Vinod,
Do you have any news about RX series from Audio people.
Are you considering to audition soon(if available).

Shyamal,
Am waiting to hear more from you about these speakers.
If possible, can you post/PM the price.

Thanks.

Hi Shagun:

Am in the UK now, so no idea what's happening at AP. But, I have the WHFSV magazine, November issue, UK version in front of me, which I bought it at Tesco here - the RX6 has got a glorious 5 star. So, it's a winner i think, but I'm searching for a local dealer here who has demo of the RX6, let me see...

PS - The new RX6 is about 750.

:)

anyone knows what is the current running price for RS6 and if they are offering any discounts on these.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
