Media player to play from hard disk

KDLINKS has hdmi 1.4 (capable of 1080p24Hz) whereas MINIX X8-H PLUS has hdmi 1.4b (capable of 1080p120Hz) which is must for stereoscopic 3D as each eye sees 1080p60Hz alternatively. But both standards are capable of 4K(according to Wikipedia). So hdmi of KDLINKS is capable of 4K and that of MINIX X8-H PLUS can transmit even stereoscopic 3D. So what is stopping these from offering the features missing? May be their "SOC"! Shall we dare to assume that these machines are misconfigured?? Techies please enlighten.

as far as I know HDMI 1.4b > 1.4. 1.4b was introduced later which adds the functionality 3D 1080p video at 120 Hz allowing frame packing 3D format at 1080p60 per Eye
