Micro Meet @ Santy's House

This has been an HT weekend for Docd, Santy, Hemant & myself, as we kicked off with a micro meet @ santy's house on Saturday & then followed it up with the 1st Mumbai HT meet :clapping:

Coming back to our micro meet @ Santy's house, it was planned as we needed to have a dekho at his newly installed Optoma HD66 PJ & his DIY screen, followed by some movies/video session accompanied by liquids intake (since we are in the midst of summer)well any excuse will do for us

Santy has now got the whole HT set-up for his enjoyment. The pairing of his Energy RC Speakers along with the velodyne sub is nicely matched with the Yamaha RX471 AVR.

The only fly in his ointment now will be his 2 channel set-up where he probably will upgrade from the Norge 1000 amp & a good set of speaker cables.

So all Mumbai action happens on 'that' side of the dirt creek!
Am there for a day and a half in your dirt city, but would be attending to work on the other side .... would be taking half a day off to have a peek at the 'pair' which hopefully should have taken up some shape, obviously, unfurnished till then.
Would appreciate some of your valuable time to go and audition the stuff, if possible during this coming weekend, and provide your critiquing to the speaker man to make it possible for me to receive a decent pair. Thanks!

Already discussed with the 'speaker man' quite a bit about your 'pair'. It appears that he will be out of town this week end. He has promised to call me when they are set for a 'test' when he returns.
So its now in my hands & for me to tweak your 'pair' in order to make them decent???

And yes now except for an external cooling fan for the loft, I am quite well set for some high definition entertainment.

Was fiddling with my camera & could not get the timer fuction to work for our group pic, then quickly realised that i was wasting time on it & decided to concentrate on the 'intake' of audio/video/snacks/drinks hyeah:

Just logged on and saw this thread. After the meet at santys and the exhausting but exhilarating day at Cinebels I was planning to post on HFV but work got in the way and I barely had time to catch my breath. Just got free now. We had a great time at Santy"s place reviewing his kit. Santy has achieved an almost impossible feat in Mumbai's real estate market-get a dedicated room for his audio-video set up! I was feeling green with envy when I saw it!

Santy your Optoma PJ seems to be a bargain for the price. I felt as if I was watching a film at a cinema.PQ even tho its 720p is great. From a distance of 8-10 feet I would put it at par with even the Vivitek at cinebels! and you've done a great job with your screen as well. Your HT set up is near perfect and you wont need to upgrade for quite a time. I was impressed by the SQ of the Yamaha 471.
As denom said the weak link in your audio chain seems to be the amp and speaker cables, the later probably is the main culprit. A pair of dedicated book shelves may be needed for music and your Energy FS kept for HT only.
denom and hemant kept our party going thru the night. Unfortunately my bad throat kept me from joining the "liquid" part!
Hope to have many such "mini" meets in the future1

I must apologize that we did not mention about docd's presence during the micro meet. Thanks for coming doc and for the mini review. I agree with your observations.

We must meet quite often as we are not far away from each other. .

Somehow, I did thought Santy would be quite heavier. Afterall, you need some to move the big subwoofers around. :lol:
