More Revies reqd for HK142 and JBL Studio 180

Hi gurus....

i had auditioned HK142 with JBL Studio 180 a few days back. can not find any revies here of them. can any one of you help me out?

how does the avr compare with Onkyo 508? and how does the Studio 180 fair aganst Onkyo 728?

i am a nube for high end or for that matter mid range HTs. i am looking a set for my living room aprox 12 x 18 feet

settle for separate speakers ... instead of Studio 180, go for 2 pairs of JBL Control Ones as (fronts & surrounds), a JBL Control (centre) and buy a good sub ... say, Velodyne etc.

Where did you audition the system?

JBL Studio 180 would be underpowered .... with HK 142.

i auditioned at jbl stores in rajkot, gujarat

the avr plus the 5.1 setup (studio 180 fs plus center plus a huge sub.... not sure about the surrounds) was quoted at 90ks. did not negotiate further. i wanted to know what are the prices elsewhere. here in rajkot, since it not being a too big a city, there not many av show rooms. we do have branded show rooms like the JBL and Onkyo. another place sells ProFX products like dennon, polk, jamo etc. but thats it. they too do not have many products for demo so choices become limited and you can not compare the prices. for example, i was quoted 59ks for Onkyo 508 with 728 5.1 speaker set. i heard the same is available at arround 47ks in chennai... the only other option for choices is Croma which does not have audition room

feel like stuck and bounded for choices. can you help?

The same 508 with sks 728 was bought by rahuljonline for 42k in kolkata. Comparing prices and performance, under 45k 508 with SKS 728 package wins.

HK 142 is grossly underpowered to drive FS like 180s. It is ok for satellites.

Look for at least 80 W/channel 20 hz- 20 khz, 8 ohm HK AVRs to do justice to the 180s. Else, settle for JBL bookshelves or satellites.
