Today's economic times says Movies Now is the leading among english movie channels. They also have a pie-chart showing how HBO and Start movies are lagging by a wide margin.

There is a rule that requires advertisements that look like news articles to have them clearly mark them in. So such ads appear with a "Advt." written in a small font. I was wondering whether there was something for jokes that appear like news items

Movies now is part of TIMES Group which publishes Times of India & Economic Times. I strongly debate the claim. STAR MOVIES HD is far superior

Is it a joke?

Star Movies beats Movies Now both in Quality and Quantity.

Movies Now just repeats the movies quite often and the HD quality is pathetic when compared to Star Movies HD.

Err...Well... We can't ignore the fact that Movies Now is from Times Group.

When they published a similar comparison of CNBC TV18 vs. ET Now, I thought they inflated ET Now's numbers by a factor of 2 or 3.

I think this time they have gone too far, Movies Now's numbers could have been inflated by a factor of 200 or 300

Seriously I don't rely on these channels for quality movies. All that intense situation and then suddenly "Toiiinnn washing powder nirma" type of situations is what I hate. And Movies Now is pathetic bro. Forget quality, they keep doing same movies, that too pre 2000 or early 2000 movies. Our Hindi and Telugu channels are catching up fast with the new releases. They are better. But commercials in between is thooo

Repeated movies. I have movies more than them I think:yahoo::lol::lol::lol:

Yes, I'd rather watch a movie on my laptop with senn cx300 phones on in pitch dark.

I was very excited when "Movies Now" was announced. But, as many of you have pointed out, they are just repeating the same movies over and over again. While this works out to some advantage, I would wish that they limit the re-runs to no more than 2 days. Otherwise, this channel is just turning out to be like any "on demand" channel.

Its not as bad as you are thinking. Even Star Movies HD repeats most of its movies. Trouble is with getting HD masters. Star Movies HD still show 4:3 SD movies and hence its not so bad in terms of repetition when Movies Now is STRICTLY a HD channel where even if they do upscale, movies are in proper aspect ratio (other than mostly being cropped to 16:9) and clarity is always HD quality.

All channels keep repeating the same movies, so one only needs to
poll them once in many days for new stuff.

On a related note, is anyone else seeing a translucent banner of HBO
taking up nearly a quarter of the screen? It has made that
channel unwatchable. I don't have DTH, just the normal cable from our
local cable guy.

I called Tata Sky... Same old line... Its in process.. We can't commit anything now :(
