Thats sad. For me both spikes and speakers grille were missing. Highly likely that they have sold me demo speakers. But the speakers were spotless.
They said, sometimes companies forget to include spikes when they pack the speakers. Lol. Yes. Jude literally said that to me.
hi Vignesh,
That sounds like some of the excuses I got. But if he didn’t feel stupid saying it, then that was never going to go anywhere beyond that. Similar to how the lady from KEI said that that onus of checking the product was only on the buyer and not the seller.
Truly disappointing seeing this type of conduct from TRC. However having bought many - so called new items - at full retail from other Respected dealers around the country , I believe many times authorized dealers are/and will continue selling demo items as new, as there are non-existent consumer protection laws in India for open box, demo., sealed, new etc. etc . Now I insist that the box has to be sealed from the factory before I accept the item (then they use the tactic that they had to check the item before sending, so they opened the box). It is truly sad, but we cannot trust even the so called established dealers - perhaps their only way to stay in business is to cheat people. Pathetic state of affairs IMO.
Cheers,
Sid
Hi Sid,
I actually don’t have a problem with demo units. You get some pretty good deals on them. And mostly, they function properly. However I would very guardedly purchase used or dep units in India only if they are local and easily chased after.
The case here, as you state appropriately, is the seller and distributor consciously and deliberately denying liability. The laws exist, but it’s the process of going the whole 9 yards with the legal process that ultimately scares people into submission.
KEI wanted to get rid of dead stock. KEI knowingly gave defective stock into the sale. Jude wanted to build a name. And to be honest, I doubt any of the items were thoroughly checked by TRC before being offered for the sales. Between them, some got lucky and some didn’t.
It’s a matter long dead now. The way I see it, the money I saved on the sale goes towards the feet when I eventually get them.
I even bought a pair of Sonus Faber Venere S speakers during that same sale. I recently unboxed them and installed them a few months ago. And the mid range drivers are already busted.
I’ll get the drivers eventually.
I have a lot of used equipment, mostly bought outside India, and in immaculate condition for their age.
HiFi Audio is expensive in India, and bringing it in from abroad presents its own challenges.
In the past 5 years, I have come across some genuine sellers, and I stick with them only now, regardless the price if it’s something I want.
