Usually i prefer not to dig on the threads that describe every nut and bolt of the media players . Knowing the fact that these posts just complicate the things .
Goals were simple :
* low cost
* web enabled
* well built and support for sata etc
*alternate seek function (i purely hate the 2x,4x,16x ffd/rew)and pC like mouse

So took a baby step with kai bo er k6
I will describe in short it is a good player in sub 6k mark ,but a little sluggish behavior while reading and menus.
Main plus is that it has android.

So hardware list:
1.kai_bo_er k 6
2.Reliance slim keyboard and mouse combo (approx 1.5k)

Apart from the other functions as media player ,it has a wireless kb and mouse integration.
This is a great way to browse media , surf web and play games.

Tested with 500Gb usb disk : reading takes 5-10sec
but fine .

Tested xbmc apk load,android based apps and browser.
Build quality IS good ,full aluminum casing,fanless damn silent.
Freebie:Free HDMI with ethernet cable .
Cons:
Remote keys are bit hard like tactile switch ,player is little slow in exit from video,browse menus etc
no wifi,it will support usb wifi card some 250odd
Did not get user manual and batteries,cheeh indian vendor!

..contd

Hi Kaushik,

Can you share the details on audio & video quality. Also have you tried playing Dolby True HD & DTS-HD content. Do you recommend this players to FM members or have you found any other player better than this in its price category. Thanks in advance.

Regards
Prabhu

The player is simple but video quality is very nice ... w.rt. laptop without graphics card.
sorry , i dont have 5.1speakers to give a full test report on DTS HD
nor i will ever have movies of 10 -20 GB

Avatar BDrip of 4GB , played very well , it was just like those videos that the showrooms play when selling the TVs , i was missing all these with a laptop as player .
The color detail ,smoothness of playback does promise a long tern association
