Ive been using a 5.1.2 polk s50 towers with s35 centre, hts 10 sub, s10 surrounds and rc 60 ceiling speakers, all powered by a denon 2700h for almost 5 years now, it was set up in my bedroom and i had to put up with rattling and acoustics issues. Now im planning on turning a 18×13.5×8.5 ft room into a dedicated home theatre.
Priority being given to proper acoustics, new avr[3800h] a good projector [jvc or sony] and if my budget allows, speaker upgrades. I contacted several home theatre companies in kerala but found them to be overcharging a bit. Is it better to buy equipments on our own and get acoustics and caliberation done separately? If anyone has suggestions to reliable dealers, kindly share their contacts

Denon 3800 allows Dirac calibration. The licence can be obtained at a discount on Black Friday or similar occasions. That will allow you to calibrate with a laptop which could give good results. The other options is Audyssey’ advanced calibration which can also be obtained at a discount. For prices of equipment’s check online and order if you are confident of installing on your own.

I contacted many ht builders, i think building the system on my own will be a better option. Will get a professional team to install panels and check reflective points, but equipment i think its better to buy on my own

Also if you go with Denon 3800h or above, you can try the community calibration solution for free.
Its called A1 Evo Acoustica or A1 Evo Express.

Some folks find it better than Dirac in their rooms.

Hi, rather than worrying about acoustics first, you need the buy the equipments first. Listen first. And then do acoustics based on what is needed. With A1 filters and Dirac ART available now, you can skip acoustic treatment if possible
