Hi,
Any fellow FM coming to Atlanta after air traffic from India resumes? I came to Atlanta for a two month stay and got stuck up here due to the ongoing situation. Trouble is, I am running out of my regular B.P medicine. If anyone coming from India could bring the medicines it will be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

I hope you would have gone with a travel insurance covering your entire stay including the extended part. Use that and visit the doctor and get the prescriptions with the medicines available locally in US. Ask your folks in India to send you the photocopy of your doctors prescription from here and you can use that to consult the doctor. I am sure you should be able to get similar medicines in US and I hope you know there are hardly any medicines which are given over the counter in US. Most of them you need to produce the prescriptions.

Hope you stay healthy and faster relief from travel restrictions and come back to India.

I was told that the main GPO (atleast in Bangalore) is working for emergencies. Maybe your folks can check once with the GPO in your city?

I had called my local post office yesterday and they said they were working partial with limited staff, open till 1.00 pm. So probabaly even GPO(Bangalore) must be open similarly.

@mpw , manniraj, sandesh, nimuz, zeta148- thanks a million for your quick response. I am trying to get the medicines and it has already been procured by my friend but the p.o says that all international bookings are suspended due to the lockdown. Only letter/ documents are being booked in metro cities. So I will wait till 15th to check if there is any possibility of getting it from India.
I do have the travel insurance for my original planned stay, which I think I'll have to get extended. I am also having earlier prescriptions with me. But I am not sure whether these can be used to consult a doctor here, get a prescription from him and buy medicines.

i was reading online they might allow parcels and courier services to resume...after 15 April - but we have to wait till then to get a clear picture.

If you have any desi or NRI friends in USA - maybe they might be able to help you - in terms of a prescription from USA itself.

good luck and stay safe.

regards

There is a group on Facebook "indians in USA" try to post it there someone might help (it's quite an active group).

Thanks @mpw . I am in touch with some friends here in US regarding consultation locally and will take this route if courtier services do not resume by this month end.

Wanted to update guys. I managed to get our medicine here in the US with the help of my friend whose brother is a doctor in Philadelphia. So that part is taken care of for the next 2 months. However, couldn't stop myself from writing this - we are very fortunate in India to get a doctor so easily and whenever in need. Medicines also are easily available and are quite reasonably priced. Here in US both are horribly expensive.
Thanks again to everyone for the guidance and support.
