Hey Guys

Need 2 front speakers (Book shelf or Tower), 1 center and a Sub Woofer.
I watch a lot of movies and also listen to music as much.

Budget: 30K

I m bit of a noob, so forgive me for asking... are tower speakers miles better than book shelves or is the difference a lot less noticeable or both cannot be compared?

I googled around a bit, and found these..let me know if these are any good...

Polk Audio TSi 100
Wharfedale WH2 Centre
Wharfedale Diamong 10 SX sub woofer (but this overshoots the budget quite a bit)

Also, I earlier had a Sony DDW5000...just for info

If 30K is your budget, please look at Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 and 10.2 (BS), or Wharfedale 9.5 (FS)

- Mission M34i or M35i, both are FS
- Mordaunt Short Aviano 2, BS
- Mordaunt Short Carnival 8, FS

It depends upon your preference, IMHO listen to all of them and decide.

Another option for you is PSB Award winner Alpha B1 with PSB Sub series 1 Subwoofer.

Or If you can stretch your budget to some extent then you can also consider PSB Alpha T1 tower along with the above mentioned subwoofer or else also try PSB Image series BS speakers i.e Image B5 or B6. You can audition all the above mentioned choices at out Chowpatty Showroom so call us to fix up an appointment for you.

Thanks
Ashish

Thanks for your response guys..
I have done some research on the models mentioned above; help me shortlist from below so that I can audition it accordingly (I have shortlisted them according my budget)

Front Speakers:

Polk Audio RTi A1 OR Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 OR Mordant Short Carnival 6 (8 is stretching budget a lot)

Center:

Mordant Short Carnival 5 Center OR Wharfedale WH2 Center

Sub Woofer:

Wharfedale Diamond 10 SX OR Q Acoustics 2070S OR PSP Alpha 5i

I agree choosing any of the above will increase my budget so I think I can go with 36K max.

Also, is it ALWAYS better to go with FS than BS?
My room size is roughly around 14'X 10'

Santosh, Forgot to mention, I had seen a great deal for Jamo 606 2 FS + 2 Surrounds + 1 Center for 31500/- at Reliance Digital at NCR. In case you are interested try to take a demo of it in Mumbai if the same deal is available there.

Also, have you listened to the combos, my suggestion like all other friends on the forum will be to listen and then decide which ones you want.

To my ears Wharfedale 10.1 BS speakers are much better than MS Carnival 6, so go out beat the heat and kick some dirt....:)

ATB... :)

After much deliberation and digging, gonna settle for these Polks, any idea where in Mumbai can I audition them?....

Front:
Polk Audio RTi A3 Bookshelf speakers

Center:
Polk Audio RTi CSi A4

Sub Woofer:
Polk Audio RTi DSW Pro 400

I also have no idea how much they will affect my wallet:)
Will buy it one by one if its too much....

Found it...

#246 & 247,2nd floor,
Atria,The Millennium Mall,
Dr.Annie Besant Road,
Worli, Mumbai - 400018

Will visit it soon....

Better to start with RTi A5

Later add Subwoofer - DSW 500 or 550 will be better than 400.

Afterwards you can add RTi A3 as surrounds and CSi A6 as center.

It is better not to compromise at this stage to make a 5.1 setup within your budget.

Take your time to build the setup so that you need not go for shopping again soon.

^^Hmm....you got me confused again...
OK...suppose I go for A5s (which I believe is around 44K/pair), will it not be overkill for a room sized 14' x 10'?
If not, I can definitely consider this.
