Hi folks,
A big hello from a new member! I just got an Onkyo NR709 from the US. It is a 120v unit, so I got a 1KW step down transformer, but my unit wouldn't start up. It powers up for barely a second, and then shuts down. I returned the transformer I got and tried with two other brands - one Mumbai make Kundan and one by MX. But the result was the same - powers up for less than a second, and switches off. I tried for Maxine, but it was not available.
The power rating on the NR709 is 6.3A at 120V. So according to my math, it works out to 756VA (Watts). I even tried a 1.5KW transformer. The result was the same.
Could this be a problem with the power supply unit of the receiver? Has any one faced a situation like this? What am I missing? Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Prasanna
