Can't wait , Can't wait :D

How are those glasses ? I am also planning to get those 3 d glasses

Hello aaditya buddy

I will be deciding for the screen today once I will get setup installed today, for the time being I will be projecting on wall.

If you havn't picked up the screen, and if you have a dedicated wall to your disposal they why not go in for screen goo ?

Plus since you have a bright projector try light Gray , it is supposed to reproduce colors much better than white.

More info available on this thread.
http://www.hifivision.com/diy/23222-screen-goo-paint.html

As for the White or Gray.
If you do not have a totally 100% dark room then white will be good, however if your environment might have some ambient light leaking in then Gray is supposed to be better. (like with most homes where you might be converting one of the rooms into a make shift projector room)

You can go through this link for more info

Should I use white or gray projection screens?

Edit : There was a typo on my prev post.
It should ready if you have a totally 100% dark room ,(walls/floors etc all dark in color) then white will be good, otherwise Gray is supposed to give a better picture.

I have the same HD141X .

Then you can buy these glasses without any thought :)

It is totally awesome and works perfect :)

But there's a trick to get it work properly, it is mentioned in the instruction manual, but the english language in that instruction manual is horrible, i did not understand a single sentence in that.

Let me know when you get those glasses, One thing is, the led indicators on those glasses are very dim, u can hardly see it.

Other thing is, When you get the glasses, recharge them immediately without using, for atleast 4 to 5 hours. then turn it on by pressing the power button once, u will see blue light blinking once every 10 secs. Now, on the projector remote Click on 3D button, set the option to DLP Link.
Now put on your 3D glasses and see the picture, I am sure you will find something wrong and the 3D depth is not good. So, while wearing the glasses on and watching the picture, Click once on the power button and BOOM, there u have glorious 3D picture. It is very clear and works perfect :)

I hope this info helps :)

Cheers
Aditya

No need to unnecessarily complicate it that much brother. The problem u r describing i have already explained with solution in detail a few pages back. This has to do with opposite polarity set as default setting in projector and the glasses. As a result, what exactly is happening is that things in depth are popping out and those that are supposed to pop out are going in depth making it look all messed-up. The easiest fix is here:

One time setting : In the projector, under the 3D menu, select '3D sync invert' to 'On'. This will reverse the default polarity in projector and bring it in line with default setting of glasses.

Now in glasses, whenever u wear them, you only have to power it once and 3D will be instantly smooth as butter.

With the above in place, you ll never have to ever press power button on the glasses twice. pressing power button second time on glasses changes the polarity(sync). If you do not invert the 3D sync in projector, you will have to invert sync in glasses by pressing the power button on glasses second time, for every single time you wear them again. Instead of this trouble, apply that one time setting on PJ and it will memorize the setting forever.

And Btw, on a minor note,
Now, on the projector remote Click on 3D button, set the option to DLP Link
You only have to do this step if you are not watching blu-ray 3D (Frame pack). For all Side-by-side / Top-bottom type of 3D videos, the PJ does not
recognise automatically and you have to manually turn on DLP 3D. However for a proper 3D blu ray disc, this should activate automatically.

Thanks to everyone who have posted here. After reading reviews/posts on this thread, I too decided to go with 141x and ordered it from Amazon.com. Expecting to get it delivered towards end of this week.

Currently shopping for a screen - 108-110" 16:9 motorized one. Will update the thread once I decide on a screen (most likely would be going with Liberty Grandview or Elite).

every owners of HD141x ,please check ur 3D view with DLP settings
i have a problem when viewing 3D, the 2 images shud some overlaping to each other and hence with glasses it becomes 3D,
but in my case 2 images are world apart and hence it ended up like half video be seen by right eye only and half with left eye.. :( very depressing, :(

and also, when i was watching a TV show, i randomly turned on dlp 3d, and i put the glasses on and it came out to be gud, not so gud as the content was 2D itself, so im thinking it cud be a problem with BD player , but not sure what is it ., :(

pls someone help,

-its not a matter of polarity invert or some crap, 2 images are litterally world apart

Damn, I have no idea about that issue, maybe htfan and other members might help u .
But if u can take a photo and post the image projected on the screen, it might be more helpful for others to understand what the problem exactly is.

Just for your information guys.

I have been running this projector for 2 days, daily 13 to 15 hrs non-stop. Not even stopped when I was eating.

I am running Movies(DVDs, Blurays, Bluray 3D), PS3, PC(Playing DOTA 2) playing movies on PC. All kinds of stuff, the Projectors totally rocks. Having fun all day long :D

Cheers
Aditya

Enjoy !! One word of caution - Your average electricity bill might shoot up by a minor percentage as i experienced it in my first month post purchase.

How i manage is whenever i dont care or not serious about output like watching cable TV or HD channels, I set lamp mode to 'eco' as it will consume less power. Only when i play blu rays i set it to 'bright' mode. i know the source is 100% accurate and demands 100% brightness pop up so that makes sense to me.

FYI for all 141x users,

Average 32" LCD TV consumes about 100W power
Projector in BRIGHT mode consumes 262W
Projector in ECO mode consumes 193W

(PJ specs are as per Optoma's own data sheet)

I am happy, you are enjoying the projector to it's fullest extant and that is what it all about, to have fun.

I believe you should also purchase a hd media player. It is much more convenient. I purchased one for 2500 Rs and it sees more action than my Blu Ray player.

I don't want to reign in your enthusiasm but I would also request you to do a check on projector sites to determine whether there is danger of projector overheating if you keep it on continuously for more than 3 hours.

I don't know which is better, your method of continuous on for 10 hrs or my method, keep it on for 1.5 hours, have a break of 2-3 hours and then another 1.5 hours.

If u don't mind which media player u are using and from where u have purchased.

For the first timers wdtv live is a good option. Zero complication and one of the most versatile players.

Willing to spend more and adapt then go with the android media player particularly the mini x neo variant.

For the diy ethusiasts, recycle any old computer with a usb live boot of xbmc openelec and voila... u end up with a fantastic media platform.

Anybody needing any assistance on this front may ping me... id be glad to help

Hi,

It seems Dheeraj is more knowledgable about this and can give you better advise.

As for me I bought a Measy A3D HD media player from ebay about 3 years back for 2500. It is a Chinese brand, but it has never given me any problem and can play anything, 1080p and all.

This media player is a lot similar to Cubetek, which can be purchased on Amazon.in for 2600. The specs of Cubetek are identical to Measy.
