Optoma HD141x HD / Full 3D

I had purchased Optoma 141x projector from Amazon.Com with their Global Delivery Option. Heart was in mouth for two weeks:) Just received. Wow, it really looks great (projected on a wall to test it), now , I am relieved!!

I do not have a screen at the moment.

When I purchased item, the price was $599 + shipping + Custom. (guess, price has been moving north with more and more positive reviews)

Guess, price would end up much cheaper than local prices; however, risk of damage during the shipping would always be there (in such cases). I took a risk ...

BTW, on packaging part, the original Optoma package is robust (with solid bubble wrap). Amazon adds additional box on top of it. Wish this box too had bubble wrap support, just to secure more tightly.

Dear Sir, Congrats on your purchase, I am also thinking of getting the same, if possible can I get to see it if it is not a problem.....I also live in Pune

If there is a wall is close to where you want the projector, you could use a glass shelf. I am doing just that, it is stylish and the base is strong and sturdy.

Anyone is using 3D Adapters? I have a optoma HD65 projector and would like to know if there are any good adapters we can get for 3D.

Hi..my friend has a Optomoa 141X and is looking out for 3D Glasses. Will the below suit his needs please and is worth buying? its got decent reviews on amazon.

Amazon.com: 3DTV Corp DLP-LINK 3D Glasses 2 Pairs for ALL 3D Ready DLP Projectors and ALL Samsung and Mitsubishi DLP TV's: Electronics

I am also on a lookout for 3D glasses and came across the following -

Amazon.com: Ultra-Clear HD 144 Hz DLP LINK 3D Active Rechargeable Shutter Glasses for All 3D DLP Projectors - BenQ, Optoma, Dell, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Acer, Vivitek, NEC, Sharp, ViewSonic & Endless Others!: Electronics

These are almost double the price though than the ones in your link.

The following ones that were earlier posted on this thread (listed on ebay.in) also look decent (These are currently not available from the seller but hoping that he will list them again soon) -

Getd 3D Glasses FOR DLP Link Projector 3D Ready Optoma | eBay

Not really sure what you mean by adaptor..I bought this thing from monoprice paying 5K INR in US as I have the acer 5360. was supposed to make my projector 3D..maybe it did..but I was never smart enough to understand with the result that the 3D glasses is currently on sale on the famous two selling sites in India and I want to put this 5K monoprice thing also on sale in case someone wants it.

I think its the below one

2D to 3D HDTV/DLP Converter (Frame Sequential, Side by Side, and Red/Cyan) w/ Remote - Monoprice.com

Unless many people bought the ebay and have a positive opinion, I would say stick to Amazon. The one you quoted has good ratings and will cost 100 dollars plus any customs plus shipping if directly bought from India

Hey guys,
good to see more people buying this projector :)

My suggestion regarding the 3D glasses is:
Please check the earlier pages in this thread .... go back to 5 or 10 pages , check every page, u will see all the required and useful info, we bought from eBay and using without any problem, the delivery and the product are all very good. Few pages back and there are some useful information.

Have fun :)

Cheers
Aditya

thanks but theres no wall near by. its actually in the centre of the hall projecting on the autolock screen fixed on to the wall. but i made my own projector stand using a tripod and a settop box stand combining both. it turned out well. will post some pics later just for info.

Hi - One query for those who have their Optoma 141x ceiling mounted. What projector mount are you using? I bought a generic projector mount but realized that the 141x has 3 mounting screws (which form a triangle) and this generic mount has 4 screws positions.

So, not sure if generic mount kits work for Optoma 141x? Or do we need to buy Optoma specific one?

Re: Fan Problem Fix

hey guys I have found a fix to this glaring issue in 141x mentioned by many members in this as well as other forums- The fan noise while in standby mode.

Pj fan starts as soon as u turn on the power from wall socket and keeps running even though the pj is yet on standby mode with the red light turned on

Yup, its the same with me. I think every projector is the same.

Nor in mine. It only stats when i turn the power on with remote.

Go to "Options>Advanced>Power mode (standby)" and set it to 'Eco'. Once enabled, the fan will not keep running once the projector reaches standby mode. There will be complete silence in standby mode thereafter. However I am not sure yet but (unless there is a sensor inside to activate fan above a particular temperature) I am guessing that the cooling down of the PJ by fan will also stop because of this setting and the PJ will have to cool down on its own based on AC/room temperature.

Please note that the above Eco setting is different than the lamp Eco setting which is used only to dim the lamp and reduce power consumption while running the PJ and is located under "Options>Lamp setting>lamp mode". This lamp setting has nothing to do with fan noise in standby mode.

Bright areas are showing up like Total White spots ..... any idea about this ??

Are u watching in Vivid mode? The contrast boost in Vivid or Bright mode results in all bright areas blow up to white.

Thumb Rule: Use cinema mode. With all experiments at my end, by far its best mode ever- No loss of detail.

Thanx for the info htfan

I am using cinema mode , I identified that only certain movies are showing up this whites spots, if u have then check with Die Hard latest movie, A Good Day to Die Hard. contrast and brightness in this movie is all hopeless, all along the film it was burned. While watching this movie I played a lot with the projector settings.
I will reset the projector settings to factory settings today and see again.
I remember that I saw such effect in other movies also, don't remember the name. I will try to post some pics also if possible.
Thanx once again.

Cheers

What exactly u mean by burned? And tell me the source u r playing - is it actual blu ray disc? No i dont have this movie but I can rent the disc to check the issue.

At this point i am only guessing if u r not taking the intended look of the film itself as flawed. 90% if hollywood films, even ~30% bollywood films these days have an intended color grading and deliberate push in contrast brightness to give a grainy documentary feel. They will never have the 'rainbow color beauty' as seen in the HD saas bahu serials and can confuse the layman into thinking something is wrong with his equipment. Not you, but Just saying in general thats a possibility.

I checked the screenshots of this BD on bluray.com and it seems quite color graded. May be u can compare the display of ur source on screen with the screenshots on this page.

Also i wud say u can check out this film whenever it comes on star movies HD- that can help u confirm if its ur source issue or projector issue.

thanks for the bluray link....
specifically the 8th image in that link which is this
8134_8_large.jpg

As you can see the light reflection on the bald head of Bruce .... is actually showing up as bright white patch .... and so with other images in that link which u gave .... take any image that has light reflection on the person is showing like a bright white patch as if theres nothing there but just white patch.

I understand the the color grading and all post production material that goes into the film I myself i work as a Post production artist for films so I have complete idea about it ... but what I am saying is different .. I hope u understood what I am saying ... I will post the photo of the image projected by tomorrow u can see it.

Thanks again

Other issue is ... the image on the screen projected ... the middle of screen looks clear but the corners of the screen look a bit blurred ... not totally blur but a very little bit ... and I guess I can see it only when am using my computer , but while playing movie ... i dont think it is there, but am not sure coz i have not checked.

let me know if u have any info about this issue :)
