Optoma HD141x HD / Full 3D

hey there htfan, sorry for late reply, was caught up with work.
so here is the photo about which we were talking, I have marked the bight white spots which r on the head on the actors. It is the same during entire movie, like i said I happen to identify this in the movie and I checked while am playing movies on youtube, I am using my desktop as the source to play youtube videos, my desktop has a Nvidia GTX750 graphic card, this card has HDMI port as output.

Hey Aquarian so sorry but I still havent been able to get my hands on its BD yet and blame my busy work days, i donno when i will. But from the pic u have provided, i can say the white patches are not as pronounced in my display as much as they are in the pic. I mean i dont feel anything missing or odd about them when i view them on my setup. its a high contrast image and that white patch is the result of that contrast.

Was always contemplating buying HD141x, but was not sure as to how to go about it.
After having gone through all the 29 pages of this thread, i i was convinced and dint waste any time and ordered it yesterday from amazon at 55K

I know this topic has has been addressed before, but i would really appreciate if i get some responses for my below queries,as i no no prior experience of
using a projector nor have i seen it work at any place.

1. i know the Pj supports 110-240 V. Since the power cord wont fit into my socket, iam planning to buy an adapter like
Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug, White - Buy Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug, White Online at Low Price in India - Amazon.in
Let me know if the projector will work with above or if any one of you have purchased any adapters from online or have better alternatives that works with this project, please let me know

2. It might be difficult for me drill holes in ceiling to mount.so iam planning to mount in on table. If somebody could guide me as to what is optimal height
for placing the projector . The screen to PJ distance i approximately 12 feet. Also are there any mounts available to put Pj on wall instead of ceiling

3. i might defer buying a screen for few more weeks. In meantime i planning to project it on to my wall. would the picture quality still be good when viewed in dark?

Hi, I don't have this optoma but I have recently purchased new projector from Amazon and I just want to share my idea.

You will need that US to India plug adapter, and you don't need to spend lot. I went to local electric shop, and got that adapter at 20 Rs. If you want Ill send you screen shot as well.

Mounting on celing is tough job, as normal, or home drills can't work on celing. So I actully had it done by local electric guy, also I needed my power cable extended as well. It's okay if you put it on table as well. If you have space.
I've got my projector mount at 1300 Rs. They call it 1+1 mount means total 2ft height adjustable.

Screen I think you should buy one, If you are telling to project on wall, means you don't need that flexible screens. You can get that white screen from Amazon and make a nice fixed frame on your own.
Also I purchased mine instalock (6*8ft) huge screen only under 5k. So you may just take one of those and take out screen and stick on wooden frame and make your screen. I'm getting 110" from 13ft distance.

What I mean is if you don't have good wall, it may not look good, unless you have nice painted wall. Still it's your choice as things are like the more you get into more it will cost, but ultimately it's worth it man :) awesome experience.

Hope that helps you, and yes congrats for your new order. Please add unboxing and final setup pics ;)

I would suggest you instead spend around 150/- and get a Roma or other branded plug socket to replace the Indian socket on the switch board. This will be a permanent one and also the Roma one comes with a universal sockets, so you can use both Indian and US/UK/Europe plugs directly without any adapter unless there is a specific case of earthing related pins on the power cable. I did replace most of the Indian sockets in my home with the Roma ones and I use the US/UK/Europe based power cables easily and it also gives a perfect fit without any loose connection. Earlier I used the 10/- plug adapter which becomes loose overtime with the weight of the power cables bending it.

Hello All members, first thanks to All for creative this post.
I have doubt about international purchasing via online.
Is this product are including custom duties and shipping charges. Is this available with door step delivery anywhere in india on our local address.
Regarding the product, need to buy a special screen for 3D projection. If yes what will be the cost for it.
After reading All 29 pages now i am also very interested to buy one of this or like this.
Please throw some Lights and show me the correct path.
Thanks in advance.

hello there,
if you have read all 29 pages, you would have understood everything and without any doubt u would have ordered it :p .... just kidding :ohyeah:
As for our queries are concerned, Yes, when u place order in Amazon and finally checkout you will get the final amount, the 599$ is only projector price. including customs and everything else it will cost you about 52,000 INR.
They deliver to your door step, you dont have to go any where to pick it up., considering you are in the range of Amazon delivery and not some remote village where there is no access to Amazon delivery :p, just give your pincode in the address and Amazon will show you the delivery date also.

No special screen for 3D, get a 100inch screen from ebay or amazon, it may cost about 5,000 INR. or u can even project on the wall, 3D also u can project, but its good to have a screen.

All best with your purchase and keep us updated :)

Cheers,
Aditya

You will get about 92 inches from 10 feet. Download the pdf manual from optoma website. It gives entire table of what size u can get from what distance.

Hi guys and a special warm hello to friend Aditya with whom I had several long discussions regarding projectors in January.

I have now had the projector for 3 months now and my feedback is as follows-

1 As you all know, Optoma HD141X is a 1080p projector so the quality is impeccable. Of course you have to control lighting because even a little bit of light can affect quality of image, especially in dark scenes. Having said that, I am still blown away by how good the picture is.

2 Optoma HD141X is a medium throw projector, but considering the design of the room I wish the width of projected image could be 1.5 foot more. I have done the zoom and all but no help there. But that is a minor issue.

3 I have realized that good quality sound is just as important as video. For more than 2 months I used the projecter with it's inbuilt speakers. It was serviceable but nothing great. Then I got a Yamaha 477 AV Receiver with JBL SCS 200.5 speakers. Now the movie experience is mind blowing. To be honest these days I watch movies more to be wow'd by the DTS HD MA sound that my surround sound system delivers than the 1080p picture.

4 Very soon after buying projector I realized that the whining sound that the projector makes is noticeably less when I use the HD media player than when I use the BD player. I don't know why but the difference is night and day. So, I purchased a WD Live media player with DTS HD MA passthrough capability. I have converted most of my BD discs to high quality rips that I watch on the media player. Not only can this media player, play anything but as I said while playing media through it, the projector is noticeably quieter.

5 It goes without saying that you need a UPS for the projector. My 1100 VA APC does just fine.

There it is. Please offer your suggestions too.

If the usage of UPS is exclusively for the Projector, and the purpose of UPS is only allowing just sufficient time to properly shut down the projector, a 600 VA also does the job just fine. This is because 141x's power consumption is 260W and 600VA supports upto 360W. I have one and does the job well.

I didnt know about that .... .but anyways ..I got a 1KVA UPS already and I prefer to have a 1KVA UPS for whatever reasons :)

Aditya I just went through the thread of your HT system. Wow! Nothing else to say to say, it is amazing. And when you get your Marantz AV with Klipschs speakers, the movie experience will be out of this world. Just a query about your computer, where exactly is it and does it make a noise?

I feel almost ashamed to compare my setup with yours. My setup is in the bedroom, I have tried to set it up as unobtrusively as possible, but I have had to make big compromises, like no screen, instead a newly whitewashed wall.

But the benefits of just reclining on your bed and enjoying a theater like experience is a big benefit.

You know Aditya, there are things in life that you buy and then fell bad about it. The Optoma projector is not one of them, I have enjoyed every moment with it.
