Paradigm Cinema CT 110 with Denon 1911, Onkyo 608 or Yamaha 667????

Why dont you look for a good stereo amp in that case ? . And find a speaker switch (A,B type) , so you can use the 9.2s with stereo amp and AVR . Both your movie and music needs are met. :)

lol.. anish.. dats the reason wi started this thread and kittu has been so helpful in assisting me.. i want an avr which both music and movies.. the yamaha 667 is musically inclined whereas the onkyo is movies and effects... the denon falls in between both of them and gives a warmer sound as compared to the 667...good for both playback

dat being said it sad to see so little connectivity and such a horrible GUI on a product im spending my whole month salary on :) was expecting a little class and more connections... the usb though is a good add-on esp for peeps in india..

wud have been happier if they had given a few more audio connections.. can live witout s-video.. hehe.. its so confusing for me to make my choice between the 667 and 1911 and unlike u i dnt want to find out that my joy for my avr is fading away in the next 6 months...;)

make sure u audition a lot of them.. time spent now is equivalent to time saved later during probs hehe.. and lyk u sed warranty and support is very imp for these equipments.. i wud prefer the marantz or arcam avr.. u can also look at network capable avr's completely future prooof.. hehe

@Kittu, that's a nice suggestion. But adding one more gadget may not get approval from the Fin team (wife I mean  ) But still I will give a chance for that.

@arjunayar27, But will 1911 fail on both  that's also a chance, right? But jokes apart, yeah your decision for the balance of both world is more of a safe bet.

Did you mean the network media center or network update of firmware. If its media then, at the end of the day I am not sure how far you are going to use these stuffs on a daily basis. I have both my TV and BD network enabled and put together they both have close to 30 channels to make use of; but hardly I do anything on those. The longest I have used probably is youtube. Most of the other stuffs are name sake. If it's firmware update, is there any other way than through network? Like HDMI or USB?

Regarding the confusion, I am really not confused on 608 and 1911 alone but other similar ones from Marantz. But no guarantee you can satisfy your mind even if you do a lot of research ;) But, still do your research and convince your mind, buy it and don't hear or look into a HT setup anymore other than yours

the network capability i was talking abt is for online radio and streaming sites.. bt if u gt a bd/ps3/tv which has internet access then u wont be needing it.. its a feature which is big abroad cuz no really listens to terrestrial radio any more in US and Europe.. so if u becoming a FM music fan am sure u wud like internet radio stufff lyk dat.. :)

the denon i dont think can be updated via any network. yamaha has a firmware update thru usb u can get it done.. nt sure abt the marantz either need to look it up.

i agree with u.. buying an avr should satify only u and nt others.. it will hurt u more to know smething bad abt ur system.. lol..

u can go with kittu idea too which i feel is really brilliant.. saves cash and gives u the result..

Is 1911 able to play internet radio? If so that should be a nice to have feature.

Yes, I am going to take the speakers to Lokesh at the next chance to see how Onkyo/Denon/Marantz differs.

@Kittu, If I remember correctly only 1911 among these three have USB.

Yes 1911 has USB port.

After you finish auditioning your wharfs with AVR's , try them with a marantz stereo amp .

I had auditioned the wharfs and MS Avianos with AVR (Denon 1911) and 2ch Amp. (marantz 6003)..
The sound stage , detail and clarity and the bass produced by the 2ch amp was no way near the AVR...
(In fact I was shocked at the bass produced by the AVianos..I asked the person to switch off the Subwoofer,,,to my surprise he said that the Sub isnt connected to the 2ch amp)

I suggest go for Yamaha V667 ...use it for HT 5.1 purpose and using the preout feature of V667 connect the speakers to a 2-ch amp via the preouts...
If u wanna go for V667 get it soon.. as the new AVR series has been launched by Yamaha x71 series and Pre-outs are no more a feature of the new V671 ..

Did u demo the V667 with good speakers like MS, Polks, Wharfies ???

I din say tat.. . i din bring 1911 in d discussion either...1911 is a superb avr for both music and movies...... I am tryin to say tat V667 can be used for 5.1 HT setup(Fronts driiven by marantz amp...i.e Yamaha-->Preout-->Marantz amp-->Speakers) and the preouts from it can be used to drive marantz amp...for stereo listenin...

Another point I was thinking about the AVRs is that if both the AVR and speakers are kind of warm how will be the result. As stated in the earlier posts, if 1911 is more on the warmer side and Wharf I guess is also a warm kinda speakers, will the results be completely good for music and not at all good for movies? Now as 608 is slightly on the brighter side I guess it still manages to give good results on movies. I liked the near theater experience with my current setup. Not sure if 667 stands on the warmer side or brighter side.

I have demoed all the three and went for V 667. Please demo the V667 before you buy the 1911.It's a request. Your ears are the best judge.
MOST PEOPLE LIKE RABRI, BUT I NEVER LIKED IT. It's personal taste. So,audition it before the plunge.

well guess it upto my ears to decide between the 608 and 1911.. shall be doin so this weekend.. :) btw has anyone checked out the onkyo 708, 808 and the PR-SC5508(amp only).... wanted to know if they are any good???

I have heard 708. But comparison may be tough. Some say there is better circuitry in 708 compared to 608 and hence better performance. Not sure.

Guys , first select the speakers in your budget and find a nice avr or amp to drive them. No point in driving small sat/sub combos with highend avrs and expect miracles to happen.

Just my 2 paisa.

i agree with u kittu.. i was just curious as i had read an article about the new onkyo avr's.. it looked really amzin... btw did u get ur klipsch speakers??? hw mch are they costing u??

If music is a priority and you have enough room space , atleast go for a midsize 2 1/2 way FS speaker... with a good Stereo/integrated amp...

Trust me ,after the first week usage , you will completely forget about features and search for good music. Atleast I am in my case. :D

kittu suggest some good FS models which i can look at lokesh store... im goin this weekend to his store and we finalize on the avr.. if any good VFM speakers are available i dont mind considering it.
