Guys
I have narrowed down my choice b/w two speakers.
paradigm monitor 11 & klipsch Rf82. please give your inputs.
My interest is 80% music and 20% movies.
Thanks
Well i own rf82's and i have recently auditioned some Paradigms monitor 7&9 as well as RF52&62 and some other as well, as someone close needed to buy a pair or rather a complete 7.1 setup for himself.
The paradigms are simply easily put bad sounding to me, whilst even the RF52 were scores better.
The Reference series from Klipsch are very capable stereo speakers but they do excel further more in HT. for me Klipsch hits the bulls eye when HT is concerned.
So as you have narrowed it down to Klipsch and Paradigm, I can only say one thing that if you buy RF82, boy you wont be disappointed.
@op,
Based on your selection of speakers, I see you have a pretty decent budget, as audiodelic mentioned listen to them for long hours and also try out other brands in the same price band.

For one lakh....you should strongly consider Paradigm Studio towers!! Some of the others in this price range dont come close in terms of performance to this one. These are simply awesome. If I remember it right when i was checking out for speakers, the dealer had mentioned it to be just around 1.1. You should be able to get a good bargain. Dont buy without bargaining big time.please suggest more options in this range. my budget is 1lac for speaker pair.
my primary requirement is to play these speakers with low power tube amplifier. so i need at least 95dB of sensitivity level. watching movies is not criteria. i need them mostly for music. all kinds of music.
Hi Delhite
how much you spend for RF-82. I dont want them for HT. please suggest if you know any other option with high sensitivity level of around 95dB.
well i bought them for around 50k. Yeah its been 3years now.
What i meant to say is these are really good 2 channel speakers, and unbeatable for HT purposes should you need to expand your system and should your preferences change.
I've the eq set off on my Avr also the Bass is set to 0db, and if I notch up the Bass to +4db the House starts to shake.
Nevertheless as suggested by sud98 go listen for yourself.
Hi Delhite
50k is good price, but here in bangalore, ppl are quoting around 80k.
how do you find the RF-82 speakers in midrange. is it too harsh or very detailed? how about long listening hours. do they create any fatigue?
anyway, i am going to audition them. but want to know your musical experience with RF-82.
Hi sanjay,
In my opinion, I consider klipsch as very unbalanced sounding speakers. I have auditioned rf62 and did not like them one bit. The horn tweeters sounded very harsh. It was very hard listening to those speakers even for less than 30 minutes. I auditioned some comparitively low cost jamo speakers on the same showroom and I liked the jamo sound better and felt the jamo speakers to be sounding more neutral than the klipsch. may be that is how i like it.
Klipsch might be good for movies, but definitely not for MUSIC.
I have also auditioned polk rtia7, monitor audio rs8, monitor audio rx6 and rx8. Out of all these speakers, I prefer the sound of the RX6 & RX8. Rx8 had more bottom end (bass) than the rx6, So I prefered the rx8 for stereo listening without sub, but however, I believe that when used with a good sub, both rx6 & rx8 will sound similarly good. In my opinion, the monitor audio speakers are the best sounding speakers in its price range among the speakers that I have auditioned. Even the BX series sounded great.
Focal Electra 1038 speakers which I auditioned when I went to audition the KEF Q900 speakers were on another league.
I even tried to audition the monitor audio Platinum series when I went for the silver serier, but the dealer did not give a proper demo as he knew that I won't buy those expensive speakers. He just played some unknown song in very low volume just for a minute or 2. So I donot know how well they can sound.
Though I have not heard the Paradigm monitor or studio series speakers, I have read a lot of good reviews about these speakers.
But in the end, all that matters is what type of sound do you prefer. So go and audition all the speakers and choose for your self. However, there is a proble in this too. Since all the speakers are not located in the same showroom and are not connected to same amps or receivers, we cannot come to a decision just by listening to the speakers in a showroom. So, also try to explore the net and read lot of international reviews. I believe the international audio enthuciasists prefer neutral sound, whilst we Indians give less importance to the mid frequency and prefer forward sounding systems(more emphasis towards high frequency). Some of my friends don't even know about sound clarity. They prefer harsh high frequencies and very distorted loud bass they don't even care about the mid frequency and the sound clarity, and some of my friends pref LOUD volume to clarity. So MR. sanjay, what is your sound preference?
It is all about perception isn't it? No not entirely.
A lot also depends on the upstream equipment used.
It would be good to understand the physics of horn which is nothing but a mechanical amplifier so it will amplify and project any input given to it through the Titanium Tweeter.
P.W. Klipsch once said The mid-range is where we live", so to round it off klipsch is not harsh one bit, they play the mids and highs without any distortions and yes now go and listen to all the speakers you've shortlisted.
