This receiver is rated among top3 by CNET, no.1 by hometheater.about.com,etc.
Ratings apart,I wanted to have views of the experts here on this receiver.

1. Has anybody auditioned this?
How is it as compared to Yamaha 663/863 or Onkyo 606.

2. Please suggest speakers for this receiver.

It is available in NCR at an MRP of Rs49990(negotiated to ~42K) with b/w.

if i were you i go for maratnz 6003 .its the daddy of all

100watts/ch very great neutral sound

grey market price around 52000 and on bill i guess may be 60000 or something

it got great reviewshyeah:

i have pruchased tsi 400 tsi 200 polk psw 125 polk cs20 centre speakers i'm very happy with them

i tell one more i'm going to buy tsi 500 in replacement of tsi 400 with just 20000 more

the guy at chandigarh told me he can swap it for me

About 6 months back it was available for around 32K in grey market.
Seems to be good... with HDMI upscaling.

Thank you Manu and Reju for your replies.

Manu: my budget for AVR is 40K. So cannot consider Marantz 6003.

I have read in some thread that Venkat Sir was going to audition Pioneer 1018 in Dec'08/Jan'09. Please comment Venkat Sir.

Others, if you have personally auditioned this AVR pls give me your useful feedbacks.

Also what I notice is that there are 2 models: 1018 AH-K and 1018 AH-S.
K-Kuro(Black) S-Silver
It is the silver version which is available officially in India.
AH-S seems to have 2 disadvantages wrt AH-K:
2HDMI instead of 3
No upscaling feature

Can somebody please confirm this.

Hi Shagun,

I am having VSX-1017 which is last year's model. the features of both
the models are almost same. VSX-1017 is fantastic performer in both
the fields ( stereo as well as Multichannel ). Total VFM product. Moreover
i got it from USA where it costed around $ 350. ( Rs.14000/- around a year
ago when $ was going at Rs.42 ) . You can definitely go for VSX-1018 as
it should be better than 1017. I am also using Pioneer DVD player DV-610
which combined with VSX-1017 gives great performance.

Shagun, what happened to your yamaha deal?

Hi ANM,
Yamaha deal is still valid (not availed yet). Just taking some time to decide between Y663/863/P1018.
If it is confirmed that 1018 AH-S is available rather than AH-K then Pioneer would be off my list.

VSX-1019 looks promissing ,but to my surprise eventhough it is 7.1AVR,multi channel input is just 5.1.:sad:
