Please help me choosing the right HDTV.

Hello all,

What should be my ideal HDTV keeping in mind the below mentioned points.

1. Budget 40K-45K (50 k at a push).
2.Viewing distance 12 feet approx.
3.80% viewing of cable TV thru tata sky HD (though all channels are not in HD and majority of channels are in SD) and the likes.
4.20% viewing of DVD's (good prints downloaded from net and original no. as well).
5. I play games on PS2.
6.Will definitely invest in Blu Ray/HD DVD player as an when the prices are slashed.
7.Can control ambient light easily.

Please advise accordingly, as my screen name suggests I most definitely need inputs to make a sound decision.

Any help/input will be highly appreciated.

You said 12 feet viewing distance and 80% cable TV from DTH...so go for 42" - 46"...not more than that ..Otherwise your Standard Definition TV channels will look ugly.

Panasonic/Toshiba are masters in Plasma TV manufacturing for years.
LG has lot of features and very feasible.
Samsung is costlier.

Buy LCD only for Straight TV watching...if you move 5 feet sideways ..u can't see images clearly. Plasma is good for Sports & Movies and has longer life than LCD. LCD is still highly priced in india.

Hi,

I think you should check-out the KLV40-EX500 from Sony, that retails at 60k. Alternately, the KLV32-EX600, a 32" edge-LED model sells at around 50k, and should make a real value buy at that price point.

IMO, you should check out the edge LED models as they seemed to offer fantastic contrast ratios, while I audiotioned them.

I really am drawn towards plasma's...IMO I feel plasma's have an edge over LCD's...I have seen a few Samsung's and LG's...will check a few Pana's soon.

I have made a purchase after a long thought process combined with inputs from our forum members. I bought Panasonic 42X20D from east of kaliash, Delhi and I I am thrilled.
