Hi,

I'm looking for a subwoofer with a budget of 30k.

Room Size: 20*30. I know its a big room. Will move to a smaller room soon.

Demoed the following today,

1) Polk DSW Pro 600

Where: ProFx @ Spencer Plaza Chennai
Price: 30k
Impression: Played a couple of tracks from Karunesh (Global Spirit), Santana (Supernatural) and Bryan Adams (Best of me). Didn't really feel the presence of the sub. But when he played the DTS demo disk (think its a scene from a Chinese movie), then felt the sub. It was amazing. I think its more of a movie sub than a musical one.

2) Jamo Sub 300

Where: Cinebels
Price: 28k
Impression: Played Hotel California. Could feel the strumming in the intro, but when the drums kicked in, i found the sub very boomy and over-powering the main speakers. He agreed for a home demo too. Didn't get the time to audition a DTS track. Might do so later.

Also demoed the Klipsch SW 112. I loved this sub. Played hotel california again, but this sub just blended with the whole setup. Tighter and deeper bass. But it costs 48k  way above my budget

Confused between the two. Also, is there any other sub i should try?

Thanks,
Shray

Have you tried Polk Micropro 1000, Paradigm DSP3100 and Velodyne Subs? They fall in the same price rage . Give'em a try.

So which sub should I go in for. I like the Polk DSW pro 600 for the movies. But the jamo sub 300 for the music?

Looking for one that gives the best of both worlds.

Thanks,
Shray

Hi!

Better find out ! Polk DSW 600 has been discontinued.Thats what I was told when I had had been to buy the same. I bought the 1200 w Polk DSW micro pro 1000 instead .Price 32k without discounts. Expect upto 10 % discounts.
Its a great sub, sealed and small form factor.

Its not avialable on the ProFx website. Its an 8-inch sub. Would it suffice a 20*30 room?

Thanks,

Even though the microPRO 1000 only 8" it's amazingly powerful. Very good for music and movies. But your room maybe too big. What are your main speakers?
