query on use of short throw projector for HT

Dear Members,

I am sure many of you may be owning ST models e.g. Benq MW809ST for business/education purpose.
Just curious to know how do the projector perform, when someone projects it beyond recommended maximum distance?
What I mean is, for example as per user manual of MW809ST, the preferred screen size table ends at 1.2 m for 120 inch image.
Does it mean, if I keep the unit at 2 m from screen at home, the image will be distorted or out of focus?
It may sound bit silly, but I am not sure of why such limits are kept by the manufacturer....
All the ST models by default have such limits in manual, even though carry enough lumens for bit longer projection distance.

Please share your views / experience of such models and limitations on above.

It will still work at 2 meter range but the picture quality, focus range and sharpness may not be optimal. For all ST and UST projectors distortion if any should only be at the edges/4 corners mostly.
