Hello,

This is a tube amp that I'm working on, in addition to the Chicago Radio that I've posted in a separate thread. Here are some points.

1. Four EL84 at output stage, indicating a Class AB push pull.

2. EF86 preamp, one each for two mics and 12AX7 for phono and phase inversion.

The brand name Kleertone is a mystery. Any help is appreciated. We switched it on using a dim bulb and all valves do light up. The quality of workmanship underneath is quite good making me suspect that it's of foreign origin (Happy to be proven wrong). My main questions are

1. There's a gaping hole in the rectifier section. The socket has four pins, with 2 smaller and other two bigger diameter . Our initial thought is that type 80 rectifier would suit. Some help needed here.

2. In the socket for the rectifier, there's a EZ 80 tube. But the valve holder is longer and the label says EZ 81. Should I replace it.

Any help on the above points is welcome.

That is for a vibrator to run from battery in the old days , for portability.

yes ez80 are rated for only 90mA of current in the HT i think for a quad EL84 + quad preamp tubes will be very low , can replace with a solid state rectifier with a dropping resistor.

Thanks @maheshsk , yes we found out. I should have mentioned that there's an indication for battery on / office too. But thanks a lot. Is it worth completing it with the vibrator ?. What type would suffice?. We checked the amp, it works ok. Only recaping is needed.

No need of thinking about the vibrator. Unless you want to use it in your car music system 😁 😁.
