Dear friends,

My friend is planning to buy the Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica with Android OS v2.1. Where we can get it in Chennai. Most of the dealers are having the mobile only with Android v1.6.

Any pointers? Please help.

Can't you upgrade to 2.1 after purchasing.. is it charged?

You are right. But Samsung India website doesn't provide the upgrade in its support page. Also it is not appropriate to upgrade the software from any other location; because if something happens we cannot claim the warranty from Samsung.

Muthusami, from what I have heard though the Galaxy Spica has been a big hit, they are taking it off the shelves. Most dealers are not receiving any more new stock. So if you want the phone its better to get what is left and then wait for them to release the new sw release. Its a great phone for the money.
