As the title suggests is Q990F at 75k a decent deal end March or should I wait for Q990H to come to a similar price point till Diwali.

Currently using Onkyo HT3300 5.1 {2012} system with S95F Oled 65 inch and hoping for clutter free sound upgrade. Have not demoed the system. Just going the online reviews.

Thanks

Highly confused.

I purchased Q990F two months back though I know Q990H has announced. Usually Samsung doesn't change much. This time, Q990H has vertical center sound which is useful when you have a projector. Samsung may give an option to add additional speakers to Q990H like Sonos. If that's the case and if your room is big, it's worth to wait. I had to increase front stage sound for my 990F to reduce the dominance of surround speakers. it also depends on how close the surrounds to you. Overall I am very happy with the performance for the price. I connected my firestick, Rpi box(for 3d) and projector to Q990F.

Since you already have a 5.1 system you can wait some more time until Samsung releases it's official video of Q990H and decide.

I live in Germany and in a store there was the old Samsung bar with slim subwoofer and the new one with square subwoofer. To me, there is a clear improvement, overall everything sounds very natural in terms of bass on the new version to the extent that I felt they both are from two different price classes. If I have to buy one, I would buy the one with the new subwoofer and it’s the main part of the system that decides it’s theatre feel. The old one is fine, but doesn’t have that room fill feel like the new one. On paper the bar is same, but when we think about this as a system, we cannot use this without the subwoofer.

Can anyone share a first hand comparison with a regular 5.1 system ?

The Q990F and Q990H soundbars are both attractive, easy to set up, and suitable for casual listening. However, their bass performance is lacking due to the 6.5-inch driver, so we can't expect something powerful. In contrast, when comparing a 5.1 system with an AVR, the 5.1 setup offers a more powerful, immersive, and detailed audio experience than a soundbar. What about your room size? If you have a small living room and prefer a sleek design, a soundbar with a rear speaker kit would be perfect. For larger spaces, a 7.1 system would be a better choice.

thats true, separates sound better always. It always boils down to how much space do one have in their rooms. I have decent space in my living room and my large floor standing speakers weren’t taking much space. I sold them recently and since two weeks I am enjoying the space I got and slowly I am also thinking of moving to a soundbar- not a decision based on sound quality but more of what would fit my current living situations with a child at home. Every time my child try to lean on the speakers my heartbeat goes high thinking it might fall down and hurt my child somehow. Speakers on stands and non stable floorstanders are a risk with children around. Also children are fond of dust caps and domes ;) a dented tweeter is a bad tweeter already. Middle ground would be to go with speakers like with metal grills which can be wall mounted.

If you’re using it with a TV, go for the F.

For a projector setup with a larger screen, choose the H. It’s expected to use DSP to make vocals sound bigger and elevate their perceived height/position, so they better match a larger screen.

Also, expect Samsung to price the H a bit higher. May be.
