My requirements were small : good quality stereo music experience with not too much bass and occassional movie watching. Had confusion in choosing between home theatre and stereo amp+components setup. Even took demo of very expensive HT setups. After reading through the Hifi Vision forum my confusion was cleared:clapping:, i decided to assemble the following components after research through other av sites also.

My Small Budget Home audio setup:

1. Stereo Receiver: Marantz PM 6005
2. Tower Speakers: Polk T50
3. Professional Tweeters: MCM audio
4. Source players: My existing Philips Blue Ray Player via Coaxial cable(amazon basics), Iphone and Ipod via imported swiss made stereo to RCA cable

Results: Very good quality sound in decent budget(Rs 55,000):yahoo:
:sad:Drawback with stereo amplifiers: connectivity options like direct USB, Bluetooth, HDMI are lacking.

Final words: Component setup is far far superior to home theatres

looking nice, enjoy. how YOU integrate the tweeters with the polks,i didnt see any exteranal crossovers. if you want to run only high frequencies you may need HP crossover.

My pursuit..half way in progress, will be adding a sub and hdmi wireless extenders as the audio is sad to grab from projector to avr, can't run cables

LG BD550 blueray player can bit stream atoms movies from HDD?

It's the same with Sony Blu ray players, it plays Atmos which is available in the Blu ray discs but not from USB content. My ASUS O Mini, plays the Atmos content from the USB HDD.

Thanks & Regards,
Rajiv
Can they play normal dolby truehd? My understanding was that the player does not even come to know about Atmos being present. Only the decoder knows about Atmos if it can handle Atmos, otherwise it also just sees normal truehd.

On the BluRay it does not play normal TRUHD when files are played via USB. It does not have a bit stream option, only AUTO or PCM. PCM is always 2 channel audio unless AAC 5.1 is played. On the ASUS Media player there is an option to send the signal via bitstream even over HDMI. That is why probably the signal does not get to AVR without being detected.

Thanks,
Rajiv
