Hi
In many speaker designs, I see various type/size od dust cap. In though convex shape is common but some cones, its concave shaped. Also size also different, some speaker cone has appx 4 inch dust cap. Large dust cap I see in mid drivers and inverted on in the bass driver.
So wondering, does its function limited only to prevent dust or plays any active role in sound wave production / propagation?
In 80's I saw flat circular diagram speaker drivers from Technics. what is ideal shape of cone? If I add-on large dust cap in my drivers, would it be value add?
Thanks
