Hi,

Pl. suggest a Simple stereo setup in the price range of Rs.50000/- Consists of floorstanders and good indian made amp. with good bass. My listening priorities are purely indian music.

Thanks

What's the content? I'm presuming CDs here.

Amps - NAD C325BEE is good and costs around 23K. Marantz is another good option, but I found NAD to be better but just my personal opinion.

Speakers - Wharfedales 9.x are great, but audition them. Other good options are Monitor Audio Bronze Reference BR2 in the range of 18/19K. Magma from our forum has gone for PSB B15 for around 19/20K so you can check them out too, but I've not heard them personally.

This should be a starting point and I'm sure other options will come from other members.

are you sure you want only floorstanders

if so you can select fromthe following whose cost is about 25-30k
Jamo C405
MS Avant 906i
Warfedale 9.5 maybe even 9.6
and Mission M35i

that leaves you with 20k for the amp

get a good used amp for 20k
or if you can jmp budget to 25k
get the marantz PM 7001 in grey ( it shoudl go well with all above speakers)

there 55k and youre set

For amps- around 25k+
1.Nad 326bee
2.Marantz 6002
3.Rotel 04
4.CA 540
5.Norge 1000( Indian )

Flr std- around 15k to 25k
1.MS 906
2.mission m33

CDp- around 15k+
1.Marantz5001
2.CA540

4.Even PC with good SC.

one thing that moserw missed ;-) you can try powered speakers from audioengine or m-audio that have amp built in.

regards

Ha ha, thanks anm for catching me on that. At 50K I though a lot more can be achieved hence I gave the A5s a miss, but you are right they are great speakers and worth a mention.

Spiro,

Where did you audition the NAD 326BEE. I was looking at it for a friend but could not find it hence had to settle for C325BEE. How much of a difference is there between both in terms of performance and how much does the 326BEE cost?

For amps- around 25k+
1.Nad 326bee
2.Marantz 6002
3.Rotel 04
4.CA 540
5.Norge 1000( Indian )

Flr std- around 15k to 25k

3.Nad 315

i heard the 326 for a few minutes
its got a better build,a bt more attractive with cool blue leds
the sound is the same as the 325 though the dealer will give you crap about 2 componets being changed

can be had for 28k from the original importer
the 325 has gone up to about 24-25

Do audition these amplifiers

Marantz PM6002[ 24.5k]
NAD C326[24k] and 325 BEE [ 24k]
Rotel RA-04 [28K]

If you want a good sound stage then go for Floor standers. Also these will give better bass.

Mission 34 and 35 will fit in your budget. These can be had for anywhere between 20k and 30k depending on where you buy[Vijay sales in mumbai being cheapest]. The vocals and midrange are good in missions.

If you trying for bookshelf try auditioning Dali lektor 2 and Tannoy custom F1.

Thanks,
Prakash.

+1 to that. If you listen to a lot of country, jazz etc where there is emphasis of midrange (80% of info lies in this range) - then missions are pretty VFM. Because they are neutral to sometimes somewhat slightly forward (depends on source material) - they tend to pair well with NAD. BTW NAD 326 is around 29k and 325 is around 24k.

If you wnat bookshelves then you can go with the NAD 325 + psb combo - pairs very well.

hi,for ur budget u can get more than just a decent setup.the missions are great vfm, pair well with most budget amps.just see how the sound with the combos are to ur ears.of course match the source and voila!!happy auditionin!!cheers
