Sonodyne, are they value for money at their current price?

Not sure how far this is true, but today when I made my purchase of the sonus 2605v3, the admin of hifimart told me that the prices of Sonodyne are going to increase soon :(

Yes, because of dollar rate exchange increase, Sonodyne prices are going up :yahoo:

May be, they import their drivers from US ;)

Anyways, if this is indeed true, we have our version of the BOSE pretty soon...

pretty sad man......we have this thread with discussions on the pricing for sonodyne and now they're set to go up (hope this ain't true). Anyway, I've bought what I needed and I'm happy for that....I won't be as lucky to get the 26% off as my fellow Kolkatians, but atleast I got the 10% and much appreciated help from elangoas :)

Congrats Oli, anyways they offer 15-20% discounts during Durga Puja too... so if you have to complete the rest of the series, it will be a good time then.

No buddy...If @ all the prices increase, letz see how much the prices increase before we conclude that this is an other BOSE..:)

I hope that the price hike would be marginal...:clapping:

Elangoas, if they happen to see this thread, then the hike would be minimal. Feedback is a good thing.

When I was auditioning speakers, I spoke to multiple vendors about Sonodyne, the common answer was that Sonodyne is not like before anymore and have lost out on quality. Many agree that Sonodyne older series were good and value for money.

I have owned and listened to many sonodynes in the last 25 years. They have always sounded very musical to my ears. Saying that old was better is crap IMO. Older ones had a vintage sound and newer ones are more like modern hifi sound. The older ones were not as high in fidelity as the newer ones. A Uranus series sonodynes system used to cost 35k in the 90s, is that cheap ?

I picked up a Uranus sometime back from a gentleman who had taken a bank loan to buy the system in the 80's(25k was a lot of money in those days). Opening up, what was surprising was the cheap components used in the crossover circuit, considering the high quality of mid range driver. I have been playing with the cross-overs and it has brought it to a different league.

Here is the comment from a forum member after auditioning a Sonodyne sound bar...

Each one has their own opinion abt the products... Due respect to his comments, not sure what would have gone wrong (Including his expectations)....Many have already complained that the demo room/demo places are not that good...

Coming to the product... i think it is called the EXbar.... I have heard it for a couple of time... Neither impressive nor that bad....

Sure it needs improvement (Few HDMI inputs, Digital inputs, & a pre-out for subwoofer)... It has its own sub-woofer which turns of some customer, bcoz they have lost the flexibility...

Considering the quality of material used for construction, It is top class with good drivers too which is used on Avant models.... Analogue inputs only is not enough to sell the product for a demanding customer......

It is time for Sonodyne to revamp the product & give customers the flexibility it deserves and make it a good product...

KK, here is the thread at hifivision, he is searching for a Home theatre and is auditioning different setups. It is a current running thread.

May be he is correct / May be he is wrong
Experienced forum members who heard the Sonodyne soundbar will comment on it.

Can anyone pay for 1/4th of Jaguar and get a car which is as luxurious as a Jaguar. Simply No. We get what we pay for.

I firmly believe that, the user came to such a conclusion because he wrongly compared two products which are not in the same league.

I agree to all the cons of the sound bar mentioned by elangoas in the above post. But still, If the conclusion was made after comparing the Sonodyne soundbar with some other sound bars which are in the same price range then it would have been fairer.

The other sound bar he compared is a Bose, which doesn't cut with the members of any hifi forum. So that point may not be really true.

The strong wordings used also shows utter discontent with the product...

Here are the new prices of the Sonodyne speakers (That I thought of buying) on HiFi-Mart : :argue:

1) Sonus 2605 V3 : 31060
2) Sonus 2601 V3 : 6450
3) Sonus R-Ears : 14570
---------------------------
Sum :52080
After 10%Discount:46872
---------------------------

Total price before price hike : 29000+14000+6500 = 49500.
After Discount = 44550

==> I have to shell out 2322 more if want to buy the same speakers

and the new Sonus 2501 Center is listed for 7,900.00 .

Not impressed :annoyed: !!!!!

Absolutely, it wasn't value for money before and now it is even bad. You also need to account for a sub woofer which will be around 20K to your overall budget.

If you see the speakers in person and then see some other brands, you will also see a clear 3rd world workmanship. You just need to remove the grill of that center channel and see the carpentry on fixing that mesh.

I never saw them personally :) !!!

But still, I don't see many speakers that fulfill my requirements and priced under my budget.

I need three way floor standing speakers under 30k (26-27k to be precise)

Ok... Could you tell us what are the other speakers which are better than Sonodyne for the same price & same specs....

Honestly speaking i wasn't able to find a better sounding speaker than the Sonodyne 2605 in that price. The only reason i didn't go for it at that time is because of dealer experience but i have heard it at friends' place and they sound like a million bucks. I feel they are the best value for money right now if you are looking at something for music and movies. @Krishnakanth_590, if i were you, i'd have gone for the 2605 without a second thought.

Let's not take it personal, I am sorry if it offended you... I really mean this when I say that the workmanship is poor. Can you post a photo of your grill backside?

Regarding speakers, there are many and you can search on this forum itself from people's buyer choices. How many I brought a Sonodyne thread do you see here recently?
