Hi guys

Does anyone have any feedback on Sonodyne's floor standing speaker Sonus 2504.

I thought it was competent on all fronts, but I am not experienced enough to get an "audiophile view."

The dealer here in Delhi (Rhythm Corner, South Ex) wants 28 K for it (at this stage I did not bother to bargain). I do not know who else deals with Sonodyne in Delhi.

Do let me have your thoughts on the above, all you experts out there, pronto.

thanx a ton

I own 2605v2 and simply enjoying it.If you are impressed with 2504, then you would be flawed with 2605v2.
As for the price, the mrp of 2605v2 is 27000.2504 costs much less. Don't get cheated.

Hello drkaushik
I am contemplating to buy floor standards for my stereo setup. I hear pop, classical western/indian, jazz and so on.....Elsewhere in the forum I was discussing about buying Paradigm Monitor 7/9 or Polk RTi 7/9. Have you ever compared the performance of 2605v2 with any other reputed foreign brands. What is your opinion
Thanks

Thanx Dr.Kaushik. But can u let me know your thoughts on 2504 as compared to the 2605 V2. Also, isn't the 2605 mainly for movies? My main purpose is Audio (Instrumental mainly).

I will look forward to your reply.

Well , I compared the same CD with Jamo 606, Kef F1, PSB(probably T1), Elac, Yamaha and found 2605V2 much more balanced even when played on a pioneer DVD player. The KEF was good but on the brighter side which for long listening would not be suitable, I felt.
I went with Sonodyne Sonus 2605V2 simply for the clear separation among it's lows, mids and highs. Moreover,I don't believe that foreign is always better.
Sonodyne speakers are not marketed very well in the country and the company sales people are not knowledgeable like their counterparts in their service centres.
Their listening rooms are not acoustically treated and equipment not callibrated well. That's why my system sounds much better at home then it sounded at their place.

Well R Naraynan ,I think it is just the reverse. For music you require 2605v2 and for HT 2504 would do.Music always require good drivers with better frequency range.I have listened to both side by side. You will never purchase 2504 if you can afford 2605V2 after auditioning.

I have started buying classical instrumental Cd's afer my 2605V2 rolled in my house.Till, then only western soft rock and pop was my genre of music.
Don't make the mistake of buying 2504 if you can afford 2605V2.

One small tip.Sonodyne always gives heavy discounts in the month of JAN as clearance sale.I got my package in JAN this year from Kolkata at 26% discount. Can wait, till then.

thanx a ton dr,kaushik. Will do as advised by you. And I am also among those who do not believe that all that is foreign is great.

Hello drkaushik
Thanks for answering my query, and it is a very reassuring answer! What is the price of the 2605V2 now. I have a Norge concerto 1000 amp @125 watts per channel and like to listen to pop, classical western/indian, jazz etc. I was planning to go for Polk RTi 7 ( I have RTi A1s, PSW110 for my 5.1setup ) or Paradigm Monitor 7/9. I have auditioned none.
Thanks again

Please go to sonodyne.com and put a price enquiry. There is always a 10% discount on the MRP.
I would like to advice you that RTI A7 is a good choice to upgrade your 5.1 setup as timbre matching with other speakers is of vital importance and since it is of same make as A1, timbre would definitely match. But, that doesn't mean that 2605V2 would not match the timbre, but you got to audition that with A1 as rears and with your centre speaker.

I have a full set up of the Sonus package.I am using Yamaha 667 AVR.
I would suggest you Yamaha S 500.Better NAD 375 as the 2605V2 is rated at 130 watts continuous power@ 8 ohms.
Sonodyne has a pre and power amp 2 channel amp combination but it was not available when I enquired 4 months back. You can make an enquiry over their website sonodyne.com

I have the Marantz PM 7004 and Cambridge Audio Azur 550 A. Will this do? If not then our discussions as regards 2605 ends here.

Thanks for your prompt inputs.

I dont know why but I have always liked Sonodyne products for the price.
The Sonus 2605 was a very juicy enjoyble speaker when paired with a warm but powerful amp. If you are not very rigid about buying floorstanders only then a Dali Lektor2 will beat the Sonodyne and most other speakers under 30k by a mile. It has a decent and very enjoyble bass but may not be as deep as the Sonodyne floorstander. What you get is a rather defined textured bass. How big is your room BTW ?

27k for 2504 is highway robbery. i got the same speaker for 14k/pair (19K MRP, 20% durga puja 2011 offer). Using them with Denon 1612 and Sonodyne 2810 subwoofer. Excellent sound (1 defect female 's' & 't' notes are high pitched). 2605 is not more airy and a much wider soundstage (i intend to buy them and push the 2504 as surrounds)

How much does the 2605 cost u in Kolkata? Our forum Member Dr.Kaushik says that this speaker could be a lot cheaper if I pick it up Jan 2012 (as there are good discounts in that month). Rythym Corner here in Delhi at the moment wants Rs. 28500 (of course its negotiable). What do you suggest is the best price that I could offer?

Rythym corner is a typical electronics shop and not a dedicated speaker/ amplifier corner.

Unfortunately Sonodyne has not indicated any other dealer in Delhi in their website.

The sale in Kolkata was not a seconds sale but a clearance sale.Don't disregard other's views just to push your selling.
