Ok first off, let me tell you that, I have no technical knowledge about audio stuff or acoustics. I only go by quality of sound and performance. :)

So, here is the deal. I have an existing Home Theater at home, Sony DAV-DZ340K .
DAV-DZ340K : DVD Home Theatre System : Home Theatre System : Sony India

But Im looking for some High quality and better performance system, who can handle big halls, rooms, etc.

We are looking to use it for Sangeet during the marriages, Office parties, Hotel parties, etc. So, especially, need something big boss, which can output something super huge.

Budget is 50,000 INR.

So, I was looking at Sony Component Systems, though I have no idea, whats the difference between normal Home Theater and Component System. Sorry.

But since it looks huge, I feel, its what I need.

I took a demo of DDW5500 last week and it was superb. Its 6.2 channel output . But its an older version , so I think, I would miss some features of this new world.

The new HT-M5 is 5.2 channel, but shows a lot of new features. But I dont understand any of those.

Also, I have no idea, whats the difference between 5.2 and 6.2 channel. :o

You can see the comparison here,

So, what would you suggest to go for ?
Which is a better choice ?

Hi Friends,

i am planning to Buy Sony DAV DZ 640 home theater system. Could any one suggest how it will orelse is there any other company which gives good quality sound output. Mainly i will use this system for my LG LED tv. I will be more using it for listening songs .
As i dont have much idea about the Sound systems.
Please help me on this

Thanks,
Ramana

Im in Bhubaneswar, and I dont have any showrooms to showcase the demo for the brands, which you asked.

IS there a website, I can check them ?

And now that you know my requirements, what would you recommend ?

Im going to use this system on my Bedroom as well.
So, it has to get attached and well synced with my Samsung BluRay Player and my Sony 55 inch or Samsung 55 inch TV.

Is that perfectly possible ?

I dont want to compromise on audio or video quality, when I watch those BD movies.

The ddw5xxx series is good value for money for non audiophile cheap thrills. By cheap it is not an insult, but rather practicality. for 40-45k it's a fun setup. Nowhere near anywhere good sound quality but it's fun.

Okay, I dont know, what you mean by , "audiophile cheap thrills".

Now, that you know my budget, Im expecting someone to suggest a complete setup , rather than adding to my stress of not knowing the technical stuff. :|
I really dont want to study audio science now :)

I wasnt using any technical stuff. I was telling you the ddw 5xxx series is a fun value for money setup for someone who is not an audiophile.

It's big, it's brawny, it's a beast. :)

Okay great!

So you recommend, HT-DDW5500 over HT-M5 ?

Reasons ?

Lets first choose between those 2 and then I can ask more questions about how to sync it with my LED and Samsung BD Player.

Soundwise, both are same.

But 5500 is an older model, so I assume, we will miss lots of features like HDMI ports, etc .

Can you check the comparison and tell me, what should I get ?

Since you are better known to those stuff, you can suggest better.

Okay, I have to buy a 55 inch LED or LCD to sync with this DW5500 .

And I have Samsung BluRay Player ,

I want to connect DW5500 with all , so I can use, with whatever needed.

For example, if watching Airtel DTH , the audio playback can happen on the the DW5500 speakers and woofer.

Or if Im watching a movie on Samsung player or Pen drive on on, the audio can playback on the DW5500.

I still suggest you to avoid these HTiBs. You should look for an AVR+speaker package. Main features in latest AVR are:

Minimum 4 HDMI inputs
A couple of optical and coaxial inputs
Analog inputs
Dolby TruHD and DTS HDMA support which is must for blu-ray users
3D passthrough
Audio over HDMI. Most old models support only video and you will be frustrated when you want to connect another hdmi device.
Auto speaker setup program like Audessey MultEQ.

You are not suggesting me a complete package with item name and model number, price, etc .

I have no idea, what are they, and thats the reason, I took help of this forum, as Im not known to all those terminology.
