What is your budget and how big is your room? Lastly how much hours a week would you listen and that too movies / music?

Saikat - just wondering if you guys had picked anything for power management - stabilizer or UPS?

As I am in the process of setting up my Aviano 5.1 package with Denon 791(with step-down transformer of 750W), I am looking for some decent solution to protect the system from power fluctuations and surges. I may not require any kind of radio frequency filters etc as I don't think my ears can make out difference (may be sometime down the line, but atleast not now), hence not interested in expensive solutions like online UPS.

The speaker dealer has mentioned of 1KV servo stabilizer that is 8k which I think is expensive for my requirement. Any other options from your experience?

gk.. none of us have invested in any stabilizer or ups. Only subhadeepgayen has bought a belkin surge protector. You can PM him about the costs.

One query i had for you, how much warranty have you received on the avianos? We have received only 1 year and the speaker serial numbers start with 09 or 10.

Has anyone considered the ZVOX-325 while auditioning the soundbars?
Here is the Amazon link for it-
Amazon.com: ZVOX 325 High-Performance Single-Cabinet Surround Sound System: Electronics

Please let me know what you think of this soundbox and whether it would be wise to go for it considering I am not an audiophile and am willing to compromise a bit on the sound quality if it saves some space and the clutter.

Is it available in Bangalore anywhere? Any feedback would be helpful.

I was told the warranty would be for 3 years.. I am yet to collect the warranty cards to confirm that. For the serial numbers - not sure where they are printed.. saw some long alphanumeric text near the cable connectors, but nothing starting with 09 or 10, may need to check on top of the packing

3 yrs ??? Don't forget to let us know, we have been given only 1yrs of warranty.

Saikat, Subhadeep,
I received the warranty cards today, and it does state 3 years of warranty as provided by "Fx Entertainment"

and my speakers serial numbers start with 10

PS: during the reconfig of speakers today by the dealer staff, they noticed a damage in the rear bottom corner for my sub(Aviano 7) :( Doesn't look like something happened in transportation but could be at the time of packing or installation by the same staff last week(as nobody moved/touched it since then). but the manager who came along took some pictures of it and said he would try to reach to company folks and try for replacement.. keeping my fingers crossed

thanks gk for sharing the feedbacks.. Can you please let me know the price you payed for the aviano package after all discount excluding the aviano 7 sub?

this was always quoted and negotiated as a 5.1 package.. MRP was 102K and final price after discount was 92K
If i compute at that rate(~10% discount), and take out sub price(going by MRP of 28K).. 5.0 price comes to around 67K..

pratim, nice setup. How much did you pay for the Ushers? :)

Posting after a long time, last week me and mandark paid a visit to SKS Traders to get our 3 yr warranty cards for Avianos stamped by the dealer and found some new stuffs in the shop. We got the chance to do avery brief audition of a pair of Totem Arrow speakers selling around 95K INR paired with Sugthen A21 Amplifier selling for 1.4 lakhs INR. The speakers had a mere 4 inch Dyna-Audio driver on each box but the sound coming out of them were amazing. We were told that the aplifier has been kept at 10% of the volume and on return the sound produced was unbelievable for a driver of that size. I think mandark can educate others about more minute details of the output but I thought it to be of worthy mentioning here.

Btw mandark has booked Aviano 9 sub for his home system and subhadeep has received the delivery of a SVS sub he has purchsed, details he can better post or when we visit their homes we can post a audition feedback. Congrats to both of them.

Had been reading this thread with utter interest. I am about to embark on this journey and seems to be completely lost. Need some advise desperately.
1. Budgets around 50K-60K to start with
2. Music: Movies = 60:40 even maybe 70:30
3. Plan to gradually build up rather than make a big splash, hence want a reasonably scalable system
4. was thinking of starting with a AV receiver + 2 BS (maybe a sub) [ no idea if that is the best way to go forward]
5. Is it possible to have a true 2 channel output (using the FL & FR) for music CDs with a 5.1 setup without tinkering with the system?
6. Listening area is around 120-140 Sq ft with the hall being around 220+ sq ft

BTW, I am from Kolkata and planning for some audition soon. Any guidelines?

Hi sghosh, contact info of the different auditioning places you can find in earlier posts of this thread. SKS Traders, Promises, Yamaha, Digital Acoustics, Sonodyne, Bose . . .

If you plan for a future upgradable AVR then have you decided whether 5.1 or 7.1 is your future target? For a 5.1 setup to start with AVR you can get plenty of options with Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha around 25K Range (Denon 1311 / 1611, Yamaha RXV 367, Onkyo 509 or newer versions). Keep another 25 - 30 K for a good pair of front BS and rest for cabling and all. Sub upgrade should be on future track. If you target for 7.1 then increase your budget for AVR to 35 - 40 K. If you plan to get the amp imported from abroad then you can do some saving.

There is another thread on this forum on power matching between Amp and Speakers take a look at that as well
http://www.hifivision.com/surround-....html?highlight=underpowered+overpowered+amps

Regarding 2 channel setup I think in this budget some of the dedicated 2 channel amps that we got the chance to audition were frankly better sounding than the same via AVR in stereo mode. You will be able to make out the difference if you hear them one after another under the same setup. However if you have not heard much 2 channels in past then you can pretty well live with AVRs keeping in mind the future upgradability.

If you are interested to explore more on 2 channel setup then PM Asit da (you will find several posts in this thread) he has a very high taste in this area and is a proud owner of a very good 2 channel setup.

You have also not mentioned your source (CDP, DVDP, BDP, etc) so your setup depoends on that as well. However you should note that a setup tuned over time improves the experiance than what is at start.
