Speaker for Devialet 120

British speakers are priced more in US compared to UK may be due to import duty.
Can some one suggest good US speakers equivalent to Graham, Harbeth and ATC?

Thanks

On agon - there are Totem Dream catchers..

i think they are nice speakers and if you can cnag a nice 10 inch subwoofer - it can be a nice combo

Devialet 120 doesn't have sub woofer out but it can be bought and added.
I dont know it will be easy to integrate sub with speaker.
Looking at my room size I guess there is no need of subwoofer.
Thanks mpw, will look in to Totem speakers.

I don't know the current capabilities

I have heard the devialets thrice and I am afraid
They don't float my boat.

Which is why I checked if the possibility of selling the amp and looking at Kef LS50W

Ok, but due to some reason I dont like LS50 passive.
Never heard LS50 active.

I think you have a great AMP, I've heard the Devialet drive B&W Diamond Bookshelves, the Rhaido floor standers & the Focal Sopra 1's with ease.
The caveat is that I've only heard the D200 not the 120.
Nonetheless, i think the 120 should be able to drive most bookshelves rated at 8 Ohms. Take your AMP with you to audition if you can, that is what i would do.

Have you considered the upcoming ELAC Adante bookshelves, Andrew Jones design & they are touted to be giant killers.
Other than that check out the PMC 25 series bookshelves, the Proarc D2 & the Focal Electra's if you can find them (i think these are going for a refresh next year)
If you are specifically looking at US brands, check out Paradigm, Revel, Vandersteen, Salk.
All these would be within your budget, and considering that you are in the US, don't forget to bargain hard.

Thanks a lot Rajesh for your suggestions and tips.
Devialet works well with B&W,PMC, Sonus Faber, Wilsons and few others, I have read it in Devialet forums. I have used with Harbeth compact7 and works well with it no doubt. I have heard Elac 403 and it is a good bookshelf speaker, I will look in to Elac Adante . UK brands are priced bit more in US compared to Japan and UK(obvious) . So I am bit inclined to US brands to get more bang for the buck. There is a Devialet dealer in my place but he has only European speakers with him and no US brands .

Bargaining I am bit bad in that, any idea what percentage you can ask for discount?

For the budget you are after I suggest either the Raidho X1 or sonus Faber Cremona. Not the M model. This way you can listen for long hours without fatigue.

On a more general note, I have seen a few people split from their 120s and move up the chain. 220s etc. I suspect you may get into that quickly.

I dont want to upgrade to 220 since it is expensive .
There is no limit in Devialet upgrade as you can go till 1000W .
Many people go with 200 or 220 since the price difference is less between 200 and 120 model. For me 120 W itself was high as i was using a Marantz amp with 70W.

Let me carry my amp for audition which is easy.

10%-30% of whatever you find on Musicdirect/online, at any retailer.
You have to be patient & shop around.
Only brands for which you may not be able to get a discount, i suspect, will be Mcintosh, Naim & perhaps ELAC (but the ELACs are bargain priced anyways).

Salk is near to my place. (around 30 miles)
I am planning to go to Salk showroom, any recommendation based on
experience? Please let me know.

Thanks

From salk, the soundscape and veracity range speakers are quite nice. They get rave reviews. Not heard any myself. But people who has visited shows have come away smiling ear to ear after listening to them.

Soundscape are serious high end. The song series are great value. Veracity rides in between.
