Koushik,
Great job!
I have taken the easy way out and ordered stands from soundfoundation for my KEF bookshelves.
What is the height of your stands?

Thanks canchi. :)
Can you please give me the url of soundfoundation?

I am planning to buy Wharfedale 9.2 but haven't aiditioned it yet. Heard lot about it though.

The height of the stand is 25"(2' 1") as of now. Will increase 1-2" with the spikes, I guess.

Looking nice.. surely will look better when finished.
how are you planning to finish it? Whats the approx weight? And when are you gonna audition the bookshelves :)

@Tirthankar- I am waiting for your interconnects, you know that :). Tell me when we are going to audition them?

I will do spray paints from a Car Painter. And will drill 4 spikes in each stand. Wandering on the web where to buy them!

@sagarvikram - Thanks :)

koushik ,
one major part is remaining that is finishing , just if u spray color it will look cheap
because the pores will absorb paint and roughness will be visible .

so add the following to the list
either
1. wood filler paste , paint job cost
or
2.glue and wood veneer

some pointers :
if you are taking expensive speakers go for PVC piped design where you can fill sand for better support needed
atleast use top and base plates of solid wood or MDf low cost ply will vibrate and spoil sound.
or u can add marble slabs beautifully to current design

@Koushik
Just make sure that you get the stands greater than 26". I bought stands from magma and I got 22" which is useless in my opinion. It was my fault that I didn't confirm these details and I thought that he'll send me the standard size (was my first stand).

Also do confirm that you get the anti skid rubber/silicon pads. I realized that I didn't get them. They don't really cost much and he seems to be quite a busy guy (didn'y reply to couple of my emails) so I didn't bother magma to send them to me.

@Kaushik - Thanks, will keep that in mind.

Thanks Flash.

@vasishta.sushant - Thanks. This will get higher than 26" when I add the spikes. One thing, where to get anti-skid rubber? Does BS moves while playing?

Magma gives them free. I just mentioned that the package he sent over to me didn't have any so just make sure you validate the things before he ships them out.

I've no idea if the speakers move with those anti-skid rubbers since I don't have any. I am using a double sided tape and my BS are kinda glued to the stands.

Koushik your pictures has inspired me to build Speaker stands.
Waiting to see the final shape.

Great! At some point of time in my life, for whatever small reason that may be, someone got inspired by me :D, nice feelings you know :p

Jokes apart, leaving more complex things like speaker, amp, source for the manufacturer we can make our own speaker stands which is much simpler. So what if I go wrong, atleast I will learn something new.

I will post the final finished product as soon as it is done.

Good Job Koushik! Had loged in after a long gap and good to see u with ur new signature. Seems that Koushik had a jackpot. Well for spikes..it will be very difficult to find it here at Kolkata. Y d't u contact Magma for that. And lastly where r u going for 9.2's audition, d't think SKS will be having that it stock or will show interest in getting them.
