Speaker Wires : Chennai

I mean the balanced cable and connectors that pro equipment uses to minimise interference on long runs, such as those in a hall or theatre. 25 metres is a pretty long run.

Of course, I didn't stop to think that most domestic audio equipment does not have any balanced i/o option. So, best to ignore my comment, which I now realise was unhelpful :o.

I thought that, if there was a ready made 25mt RCA produced, it should work. that's why I bought it. It will be few weeks before I can test it if it works without a loss since it will take sometime before my place is setup :(

yesterday i checked in ritchie st in shop they have 0.5 mm speaker wire made in taiwan 100meters rs 1500. Its adviciable to buy this can any one suggest.

Hi,

I would be wary of the Ritchie St guys, some of them are selling iron wire with a coating as imported speaker cable. It is very difficult identify as they are well made.

A couple of pro installers I know bought this stuff unknowingly and used it in their instalations with disastrous results.

It was only after eliminating all other items in the chain that the fault was traced to the speaker wires.

Take a magnet with you when you go to check out the wire.the magnet is attracted to the iron content wire.

Hi,
Sorry about a little diversion. I am looking for a reasonable coaxial audio cable (to connect a philips DVD player to onkyo AV receiver). I zeroed down to Bandridge,
can somebody tell me where to get it in Chennai?
suggestions about other brands welcome.
Thanks

Friends, got qed evolution silver xt speaker cable from profx.Seems to be a great improvement over the DAC cables and able to get amazing details from it. Any idea if i can get banana plugs in Richie st. I dont want to go for the costlier ones.

I use MX cables model no 889 @ Rs 52 per meter for my subwoofer and Phillips 16 gauge for my floorstanders (got them from England- 20m packet for around Rs 1700). They are good enough. My RCA cables are from MX electronics.
Thanks
Sanjay.

Signals from Optical & Coaxial are digital and signals from RCA are analog.
To convert Digital signal to Analog a DAC (Digital-Analog-Converter) unit is required. This unit takes digital signals as input, converts the signals from digital to Analog and gives the converted analog signal as output (through RCA jacks) which can be connected to any device that takes analog input. eg. stereo amplifier or preamplfier.

There are many decent DACs (eg. Beresford) within 10K budget. Forum members please help out with suggestions.

I'd always go for for thick when it comes to speaker cables.

Networking cable is designed to counter specific forms of interference and crosstalk that affects a very specific kind of digital signal.

If I wanted to make my own speaker cables, the last thing I'd use is network cable. The first thing I'd use is... mains cable. Heavy duty mains cable.

But hey... you've tried it and I haven't. :o

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
