looking for speakers with good highs and midrange. will let the subs take care of the bass. could folks here recommend speakers with good, colorless details?

budget - 25-35k. if you recommendation costs more, kindly share info on the same as well.

total budget: 25-35k...would stretch if i don't require an upgrade for 7 years least.

Music: george michael to the killers to floyd to erykah badu to scissor sisters to tool to simple minds to the news to sting to trance to techno to almost anything.

room size: currently for my squarish bedroom, which is fully furnished 11 X 12.
as you can see, rear ported speaker cabinets wont work... theirs curtain on right, bed in front and wardrobe to left... plan to put up a fabric based wall mount to back wall to damp sound as much as possible.

is 25-30k including the sub as well? for that size room you dont really require a sub. it'll prove boomy and also subs that arent good sound terrible. imo you should do away with the sub and just get a good pair of speakers.

25-30k range - the usher s520s come highly recommended by anyone thats listened to them. bose 301 is a very well rounded speaker at 17k - bass is pretty good as well. also check out monitor audio bronze bookshelves and kef q series bookshelves

Do check the KEF Q300 Book Shelves, they should fit the bill perfectly for you :)

thanks for al lthe recommendations guys. i can imagine how frustrating it might be for veterans here to address similar questions over and over again... still, appreciate your patience.

i just spoke to a gentlemen at boomrang. he said the same thing about subwoofers.. and to top it off..i currently have passive subs which run parallel with the satellites! no wonder i'm not so much in control when it come to sound.

however...i'm used to the punch of a sub and can imagine how it'lll play havoc in my room as it wont be able to match the speed and detail of a book shelf...any opinions on this?

* range quoted is just for book shelf.

afj, i did check the 301's and 901's at rcity... not sure if i liked them...they look like they would please...but the sound was very "incomplete"

denom & avidyarthy: thnx dude. any place in mumbai tht i can audition them?

just wanted to add, i hate "shrill" sounding treble.

overall gr8 sounding speaker.Price may have gone up after Diwali.

hmm. will definitely check Kef Q300. thnx guys.

any thread on stores and the brands they keep?

all the speakers mentioned to you by our friends in this forum are worthy of an audition. But ( and am no expert) one speaker that stands out could be the Tannoy Revolution DC 6.

Audition it and you will then know. (especially if the bass is taken care of by the sub).

Cheers

Hi,
Considering your preferences (budget /high details /no shrill treble /room size)... I would recommend Usher V-601. Paradigm Titan and Monitor Audio BX6 can be second options. So far my auditions with Quad 11L and 12L, didn't give the impression that they are highly detailed speakers... though YMMV.

i just love the look of ushers. they look solid. cud u please suggest where i cud audition them?

also, from the look of it, it feels like it wud be suitable for jazz and classical music.. or looks cud be deceptive?
