My friend from Chennai having problem with his turn table - Technics SL2000 Direct drive.
The platter rotation slow down drastically i.e. 33 rpm rotate at the speed setting of 45 rpm hence cant be adjusted with pitch control.

Anyone faced same problem? Any expert mechanic number of turntable repair from Chennai?

Thanks in advance ....

Yes, its quite a common problem with Technics direct drive turntables. The first step in the fix is to clean the speed selector switch and the pitch controls. Slowing down, the speed selector not engaging, slowing down to a dead stop, etc are usual symptoms that related to clogged speed selector switches and pitch controls :) All the very best.

Note: Please do not use any oil based cleansers on these components. They leave a layer of oil, attracting more dust. Also please do not use any rubbing compounds or abrasive stuff. Clean with very gentle strokes.

If the turntable was being used after a long gap, there's a possibility of the grease at the main bearing of the shaft could have dried up and this can be another cause for slowing down
