Well as long they dont stop the HD Gold pack for existing (lucky) HD subscribers. This really is a shame, the vanilla Tata Sky HD boss is rather nice indeed. If I dont need recording, why would I pay the premium for a HD -DVR. I think TS probably had a fallout with the device manufacturer

Just got a call from TataSky cust care and they informed me that TataSky HD setup boxes has been relaunched and the price is 2599. They were still not sure abt TS HD plus launch but should be very soon. So who were waiting for TS HD can now grab.

Oh Yes. I got a call yesterday and paid the amount 2599/- right on that call as well. The sales guy promised a 4 day window to complete the installation and hope they stick to that commitment!

even i got a call frm tata sky cc informing abut d relaunch on friday, i completed d transaction right way through phone........but yesterday i got a call frn tata sky again(i thought they must hv called fr confirming installation tym) but contrary to my expectations they said they r again out of stock nd they ll install mine after 3-4 days ..

Got a call from the CC in the morning informing that the they were again out of stock on the HD stb's and will receive the new stb only after a week.
Beware folks,they are taking the money on phone promising you the deliveryin 3 days but in few hours another call comes saying its again out of stock.
False promises!!!
What can be done in case they dont provide the STB on time,lets say a week from the timeof payment?

The Tatasky engg came in yesterday morning and installed the new HD stb. he said they got a delivery of only 3 STB's for pune.
The import date is dec 2010 on the box. imported from korea.
Man its so awesome to watch discovery and natgeo in HD .. I m loving it.
only drawback and frustrating thing i found was the favorites. in the normal STB, the favourites were set from channel 900 onwards, but in the new HD STB these are just set as favorites. so I cant browse the Fav channels using the channel browser, but have to keep clicking on the FAV button.. so once u r on the 5th fav channel, to come back to the 2nd channel, u have to browse through all the fav channels to the end untill it starts again from the begining. May be I am missing something here. but thats what i found.
Still yet to play more with it. but the initial imipressions are too good.

You can change the genre by pressing the green button I think here....the blue buttton is now for language changes....so change the genre to favourite and just keep going up and down... no recycle necessary there but still remains irritating....btw if you change to favourites by number.....then why not remember the favourite channel nos. instead and just press those nos directly instead of 900 numbers
Any place in Bangalore where i can get the HD STB? Need this before the Cricket WC starts. Called up TS CC and he first said that he is taking orders. Then i asked him "Confirmed? I have read reports on the internet that you folks are doing bait and switch. Taking orders and then calling No Stock". (Thanks to this forum).
CC told - let me confirm. Puts me on hold. Comes back and says "Bangalore, guaranteed sir". I asked him to give local office number which he did not. He also did not confirm the inventory availability.
What do you guys say? Should i go for it i.e. order it? Or search around for old boxes?

There is no old box, I did an exhaustive search even outside of Bangalore.
I ordered last week via the National sales number from the website.
20/01 - Ordered (Thur)
24/01 - Delivered/Installed (Mon)
After making the order on 20th, I got a call from the local office about an hour later to verify my address and they said the STB was expected in 3-5 days.
It is definitely not old stock as someone cleverly suggested as the import date shows December 2010.
Yet to activate HD channels and sports.
I placed order on 21st. Will be getting it installed today evening, 5pm.

Went to the tataSky website. Entered my mobile #. Within 30 seconds, got a call on my Mobile. CC confirmed again that stock is available in Bangalore. Went ahead and ordered it. He said ETA is 3-4 days. Gave me Subscriber ID etc. So far so good.
Within 20 minutes, got a call from Bangalore office.
Lady "Saar, out of stock right now. It might be delayed."
Me:
Lady "Saar, it might take a week as we have to get the box from Mumbai"
Me: "Well, when you took the order, why wasnt the inventory updated?"
Lady " Saar, we dont have it."
Me: "Well, if this is the case - i would have to cancel it."
Lady "Saar, give me 5 minutes. I will call you back."
5 minutes later -
Lady "Saar, it will take 3 days. Once we get the box, we will give you a call."
Me: "Ok, 3 working days means Friday i should be getting. What time?"

So within an hour - My ratings for TS went from +10 to -5. Come Friday, i may be disappointed.
So, guys - make sure Inventory is there in your respective city before ordering.

TSky HD was delivered and installed on 26th Jan, which was within the promised 5 day turnaround time. I had been promised 1 month's Grand package free, but this was not given initially. A call to their helpline solved this, and all channels in this package have been activated.
STB has been connected to TV with an HDMI cable that they provided with the box.
SD channels picture quality is ok, but nothing amazing. Pretty much on par with what I've seen from Airtel's non-HD box. I haven't added the HD channels yet.
As for the sound - not really feeling much of a difference from the standard cable feed, but then you cannot expect much from LCD TV speakers.
Will add sports and HD channels soon.

In old Tata sky normal set-top box, channels were categorized based on news channels, sports channels etc. Same thing is missing in their HD set-top box. Is there any way to bring it back in HD? Or some other way to search the channels more conveniently?
