The Future of Sound?

I agree here, Such effects for music are counter productive. Your brain power is diverted from enjoying music to following the music.

One would enjoy recosding with good sound stage, each instrument/vocal coming from a set place. If the whole sound keeps shifting, it makes berain tizzy. This is OK for barbershop like gimmicks though.

When it comes to Music Its Stereo\Mono, Anything beyond fits well for AV.But still love to listen some Quadraphonic Albums in Quadraphonic Receiver .Never heard One hence like to experience it.
It is quite similar to 5.1 The range of quad music on vinyl is rather limited, and the system of decoding the record groove into 4 discreet channels is a bit dodgy at best. Well known music used in motion pictures with Dolby or DTS mixing are quite stunning when played on a well tuned 5.1 system.
May I refer you to the film "Rocket Man" about the life of singer Elton John as an example of such sound.
